AUGUSTA, Maine — U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe says the new security compact with Afghanistan still leaves important questions unanswered.
The Maine Republican says it doesn’t address how the United States comes to terms with the insurgency in that country without cooperation from Pakistan.
The agreement, announced by President Barack Obama on Tuesday night, allows a possibility of keeping U.S. forces in Afghanistan after 2014 for purposes of training Afghan forces and targeting al-Qaida. It also says Afghanistan will provide U.S. personnel access to and use of Afghan facilities beyond 2014.
Snowe, who was interviewed at an event Wednesday in Augusta, says the 2014 end date “seems open-ended.”
Asked if the U.S. should have a role in Afghanistan, Snowe said “not indefinitely,” but it’s a question that will have to be explored further.
Hey, she’s right to not trust this guy. After all, it’s an election year and he’s pulling out the stops to get re-elected so that the second term he can really run roughshod over the entire entitlement thing. There will always be soldiers left behind to serve in non-combative roles – where possible. We still have large armies in Germany, South Korea, and thousands more posted around the world. WWII ended 66 years ago. The Korea War concluded with a Truce 59 years ago. We’re still there.

The UN inspectors told Bush and Cheney – there ain’t any. Then Bush’s own personal inspector told Bush exactly the same – there are no WMD in Iraq. Hussein had them. But after Kuwait he didn’t attempt to start up manufacturing again.
Our troops searched relentlessly. They found nothing except the remains of a plant which had been used to assemble WMD. Bush, Cheney and Rove, twisted the arms and minds of the Brits and others to join them in finding something that wasn’t there.
The costs in blood far exceeded the measly two to three trillion dollars the Bush and Cheney lie cost thousands of young Americans. Now Romney is ready to charge into Iran on an equally futile mission. He has no cares about spending trillions to do it, and no worries at all about the cost in human life. Like his predecessors, he is a “Chicken Hawk.” None of his kids are subject to call, and certainly won’t volunteer for that mission.
Republicans, edged on by a facist tea party is a party of self. Romney wants to cut the program that inspired better health care for millions. He’s for cutting everything that might help and does many working middle class Americans. That’s why Union Busting is such a pleasurable pastime for the Koch tea party-sponsored republicans.

The Obama Health care is a fiasco, look at how many billions he has borrowed to sure up the Special medicare program, so there won’t be any increases this year. Obama is ruining this country.
