MASARDIS – Clive A. Bragdon, 78, died May 5, 2012, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born June 10, 1933, in Danforth, the son of Cecile and Etta (Morse) Bragdon of Eaton.
He attended school in Eaton and started working at a young age. At the age of 18 Clive moved to Masardis, where he met his loving wife, Lona J. (Porter) Bragdon. They married at the age of 19 on July 19, 1952. In 1954 he became the sole employee for the town of Masardis, where he worked for 45 years prior to his retirement in 1999. In addition to being one of the finest road commissioners in the state, he was responsible for the maintenance of the town equipment and buildings as well as cemetery upkeep. Clive always did everything he could for the town’s people and was missed by all when he retired. Clive was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and canoeing with longtime friends, Vinal and Liz Robinson. He also enjoyed motorcycle riding in his younger years with his brother, Arthur and wife, Phyllis, and longtime friends, Gary and Prudence Libby and Ralph and Althea Stolze. He was an avid cribbage player and enjoyed playing cribbage with wife, Lona and grandson, Nathan up until a few weeks before his passing. He enjoyed driving and going on long trips with Lona. It didn’t matter where the destination was, so long as he was driving.
Clive is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Lona (Porter) Bragdon of Masardis; three children, Ruthine Lilley and husband, Ernie, of Masardis, Clive Bragdon Jr. and wife, Charlene, of Cornish and Ellen “Susan” Bragdon Lilley and husband, Tony, of Masardis; six grandchildren, Bambi Duperry, Nathan Giggey, Crystal Lilley, Chelsea Lilley, Ann-Marie Lilley and Dayna Cyr-Parker; one great-grandchild, Brandy Duperry; siblings, Martell Craig of Auburn, twin brother Clair Bragdon of Amenia, N.Y., and Donald Bragdon of Stockton Springs; many nieces, nephews, friends; and a special sister-in-law, Rena Porter of Masardis.
