AUGUSTA, Maine — It turns out the Maine GOP didn’t run up a huge tab from the Augusta Civic Center for keeping the lights on after the convention ran late.
GOP Chairman Charlie Webster warned Ron Paul activists who took over the weekend convention that the civic center agreement called for wrapping up by 6 p.m. Sunday. Instead, the convention continued at least two hours beyond that before breaking up.
Civic Center Director Dana Colwill said Wednesday that the bill will be $300 or less for overtime for workers who stayed to the end.
The convention was a messy affair with repeated delays as Paul supporters and Mitt Romney supporters argued over rules of order. Some party members passed the hat to collect donations to pay the civic center.

That’s OK. The governor will take it out of his daughter’s salery. She won’t mind and she’ll never miss it.
Did she get off the couch yet?
The extra time should have been spent in discussing in what ways the policies Romney says he plans to implement differ from what Obama is doing.
That would have taken about 1 minute because they don’t differ.
Both support the NDAA, the Patriot Act, all the wars, the Libyan war, the bailouts, the warrantless wiretapping, the same health care bill – everything. So, why on earth are people voting for Romney?
Charlie Webster addressed the acting GOP Convention Chair to advise the delegates, ALL of the delegates that the GOP would probably be looking at $10,000.00 or more if the convention did not end on time. Also several other establishment GOP just had to take up the mike and use up time that the Second District had waited for ALL day. ( didn’t get to caucus till four or later was supposed to caucus at 10:30). SO you know what take the paltry $300.00 from the $25.00 fee every delegate paid to be there, which would be about 3200 people=$80,000.00 hard to get an accurate amount cause the Maine GOP probably is still fudging the numbers.
Well over 50 of the Ron Paul supporters donated 10 dollars or more to the county chairs for submittal to Mr. Webster because he cried about it all Sunday afternoon….funny, didn’t see any Romney folks ponying up even though it was their lack of understanding rules and stall tactics that caused all the chaos and delay at the conention
The Maine GOP already made a ton of extra money off of this event with atendence up over 50% from last year…..Webster should have recognized this, not resorted to fear mongering (threatening a $10,000 fee), and had some respect for the delayed proceeding he himself had a hand in fouling from the get-go.
Charlie claimed the bill would be $12,000 in an interview after the Convention.

Just another lie coming out of the mouths of those who would like more of our money…the pigs want another go at the trough.
Please continue with your dysfunctional family antics GOP, it assures that the Dems will win again.
