AUGUSTA, Maine — Gas prices in Maine continue to tumble, yet still remain above the national average.
Price-monitoring website MaineGasPrices.com reports Monday that average retail gasoline prices fell more than four cents in the past week to an average of $3.80 per gallon.
It’s the fourth consecutive week of lower prices.
The Maine price is still seven cents above the national average.
Prices in Maine are now nearly 19 cents lower per gallon than a month ago and more than 17 cents lower per gallon than on the same day one year ago.

In what part of the State are you folk’s looking ? Up here in The County gas hasn’t moved between $ 3.92 to $ 3.94 a gallon in over 6 month’s. When, and it’s a BIG when, gas start’s heading down toward the sub- $ 3.– a gallon mark, then you may have something worthwhile to report.
Gas will never go below 3 bucks a gallon, 3 dollars plus is here to stay..
You want cheap gas then move out of the County. It cost a fortune to truck gasoline to the county.
Yeah whatever ! Not like anything can or will be done to the price of petroleum products as long as they are so much in demand as a necessity of our lives …will only get worse as the greedy get greedier.
We could be paying 20-30% less is we reigned in speculation by financial firms. This is the equivalent of being taxed by a non-governmental body that uses all of the proceeds for its own pleasure.
Gasoline has become just another means to tax the real economy and inject the money in the financial economy. This is all really good news if you are an investment banker and really bad news for everybody else.

NObama!
Sorry, this is completely irrelevant, but it gets thrown around in every post on this site, so I thought I would get in on the action.
Don’t get too excited about the drop in gas prices. With Pres. Obama’s war on the coal and oil industries, as he famously said, “Energy prices will necessarily skyrocket.” So, keep saving your pennies – the other shoe WILL drop.
This is foolish. The Cap and Trade system that he was referring too has never taken effect. Nothing that he was talking about in that one interview 4+ years ago has actually happened. Drilling permit approvals have gone up since he has taken office. The “war” you are talking about is a figment of the right wings amazing imagination.
Funny how Obama gets after the oil speculators and the gas prices go down. Funny how Fox Propaganda News and Rush Limbaugh don’t even mention lower gas prices or blame Obama. But they were blaming Obama when the prices were going up. Now SILENCE from these Rethuglicans.
Amen!
Wonder whose fault this is?
