Gary Allan was the headliner Sunday night at the Country Throwdown Concert on the Bangor Waterfront. He performed with up-and-coming country stars Justin Moore, Josh Thompson, Sunny Sweeney and Eric Paslay. Allan’s music career has spawned nine platinum albums, two No. 1 spots on the Billboard charts and countless sold-out concerts.

Making music louder doesn’t make it better.
@ Bangorian, I have read your posts on many subjects. You always seem to be so negative. Do you ever like anything?
Yes – Warren Haynes is coming in a few weeks and I think that’s wonderful!
Yes Govt Mule and moe should be another great evening. Thanks for your support. You are coming right? I know you must have a good seat however, but we live right down the road. Still attend !
Was you there?
Yes – I was sitting in my living room.
Okay, that’s cool. We also moved to the waterfront after several seasons of supporting everything on the waterfront. Sounds like you got a great seat. The true supporters are actually coming however. To support is to ensure that it continues.
You seem to go to every concert, i mean at least you post on each one. I was there, it was great. Were were you setting. The only thing i need to complain is the security there was a little rude about a few things
Yes, we attend them all. We are supporters and we have a great time doing it. I also support AFF and Kahbang and West Market Fest, Penn National, Global Spectrum, etc. etc. etc. I don’t drive somewhere else to shop, I shop here. I don’t drive somewhere else to see a show, I see it here.I don’t drive to another casino to do the same as I would here. I don’t do much elsewhere, because we have it all right here. That would be pathetic, wouldn’t it? I am a true Bangorian… I don’t put my city down and say it isn’t worth being a goal. I prop it up. I talk good of it. Business loves cities that love themselves. And yes, we are open for business. How can anyone love you if you don’t love yourself? As far as security, they are the best. I have been to so many, and the security was top notch and fair to the rules of the grounds. Just last week, we brought the kid so he could enjoy Godsmack from the front row. It was a massive audience and he had a great time. But how does he get back to the front row if nature calls, if he gets thirsty. Security made sure that he did. Even gave him a water when he needed it. They took such good care of him, I can only defend the security at BWP.
Bangor is the BEST city in New England.
too much money for the city. too many jobs. too much entertainment.
Gary Allen- 9 platinum albums. Countless hits. He knows what he is doing. Josh Thompson and Justin Moore were incredible.
Great time tonight. It was great to see the ones that came to enjoy a Memorial weekend concert of very good artists. Festival-like gathering of country music fans. Josh Thompson took the audience by storm, then Justin Moore finished that battle cry. Gary Allen closed out the night with a great selection of hits. This was simply a beautiful evening for music on the waterfront. To the ones who couldn’t make it : My condolences…
Well said! I had an absolute BLAST at the show!
Head count please? Is it just me or has there been a decline in people attending the last 2 concerts?? How can the promoter continue to afford to bring in great music when no one shows up??
Actually my wife and I went to Godsmack and Staind on the 18th and it was friggin packed!!!!
The BDN normaly reports the head count and they had not the last 2 times, and this video shows what seems like 90% empty seats. sad.. The dunkin D’s wall seemed to have more people on it then in the concert.
This video was taken during the earlier acts, before a lot of people arrived, thus accounting for a lot of the empty seats. These first three concerts, didn’t have to have huge attenedence numbers, to break even , as they didn’t cost as much as soom of the upcoming shows. Next Saturday, when the Zac Brown Band comes to town, you’ll see your crowd!. This will be the Waterfront’s biggest concert yet – in three years!
Thanks for the report.
Yea i don’t know why bdn hasnt given a head count. I didn’t even see an article on the Godsmack concert, which was weird because it was a great turnout! Lots of people!
Davidvsgoliath- The Mass Chaos Tour was a huge crowd. Here is a photo, the crowd goes all the way back to the fence. It was packed.

Also, many more shows this season are headed for sell outs. Bigger shows, bigger crowds. Simple math will give you the answer: We are growing. Waterfront Concerts is growing.
There is a little decline and it will continue to as economy gets bad and things change. I will continue to support the concerts though
thanks dkenzie!
Transiberian was pretty well attended for what was available for seats and lawn and being the first show of the season. Godsmack/Staind was close to sold out. It wasn’t reserved seating, it was general admission which means it was a total success. Country Throwdown actually had more people there during the day into the evening. I did notice a lot of empty seats the longer the night went on, but it must have been because of memorial day activities and people’s agendas. It was complete class for Waterfront Concerts to give away so many tickets to military and first responders. It was a fantastic show. The jumbo screens made it much more visible for the ones who were way back. Would have loved to have seen more people show up, but appreciate the fans and supporters who did. We need to support my friends. Happy Together Tour July 27th!! It’s going to be an outstanding evening.
Who?
Hey Bangorian!! If you ever decide upon moving let me know! I would love to be that close for all the Waterfront Concerts!
