CORINNA – Arlene Pearson, 84, died May 25, 2012, in McKinney, Texas. She was born Oct. 17, 1927, in Stetson, a daughter of Norman and Goldie (Sevey) Reed.
She graduated from Corinna Union Academy, Class of 1946, and trained as an X-ray technician at Eastern Maine General Hospital, Bangor, graduating in 1950. Arlene and her husband, Bob, took over Pearson’s Oil business in Corinna in 1956, and purchased Pearson’s Hardware Store in the mid 1960s. After Bob’s heart attack in 1983, the store was sold in 1984. She was a member of Corinna United Methodist Church, Nokomis Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Corinna Literary Club, and past member of the Rebekah’s and the Grange. Arlene also volunteered at Eastern Maine Medical Center and Sebasticook Valley Hospital.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice Smith of Massapequa, N.Y., and Glenburn, Nancy Collins and husband, Kirby, of Anna, Texas; sister, Avis Adams of Newport; four grandchildren, Jason and Zachary Smith, Marissa and Kira Collins; and three great-granddaughters, Jillian, Summer and Jacyn.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 11, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, at Corinna United Methodist Church with the Rev.
