BOSSIER CITY, La. – Philip Chamberlain, 69, was the victim of a fatal traffic accident May 30, 2012.
Born and raised in Caribou, Phil lived and worked in Massachusetts after being discharged from the Army. Phil proudly served in the U.S. Army. He relocated his family from Massachusetts to Bossier City, La., in July 1978. Phil worked for Builders Supply immediately upon arriving in Louisiana and for many years thereafter. He starting working for the city of Shreveport, La., almost 25 years ago and was in the engineering department when he died. He was diagnosed with esophageal cancer six weeks ago and the kindness, generosity and loving support he received from his Louisiana, as well as his extended and large Maine family, provided him with untold comfort for what he knew was going to be a long journey.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sharon Chamberlain; his son, Erik Chamberlain of Las Alamos, N.M.; his grandchildren, Andrew and wife, Paige, of Bossier City, La., Colby Long of Frisco, Texas, and Tiffany Chamberlain of Simi Valley, Calif.; and his infant great-grandson, Anderson Chamberlain of Bossier City, La. He also leaves three brothers, Clifford and wife, Judy, of Crouseville, Joseph and wife, Gloria, of Woodland and Rodney and wife, Patty, of Carmel; his sister, Artie Fox of Wade; several nieces and nephews, who reside in Maine and with whom he enjoyed spending many summer vacations. He was predeceased by his son, Sean Chamberlain; his parents, Dennis and Katherine Chamberlain; his brother, Reginald Makepeace; sister, Norma Wagner; and nephew, Reginald Makepeace Jr.
A memorial service celebrating Phil’s life was held Tuesday, June 5, at Faith Temple Assembly Church, Bossier City, La. A private family interment of cremated remains with military honors will be held at Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou. Boone Funeral Home.
