BUCKSPORT – Vivian Iris McLaughlin’s beautiful journey on this earth has come to an end. She was a woman who gave selflessly of herself and was her happiest with a home full of family, friends, neighbors and laughter. Devotion to her family was unwavering. Vivian will be remembered by all for her special sense of humor that could make you smile even in the toughest of times. We love you and we will miss you. Vivian was born June 6, 1928, on Verona Island, to George Francis and Viola May Anderson. She passed away June 10, 2012.

Though her life may have taken her many places throughout the years, she always called Verona Island her home. She was a parishioner of Elm Street Congregational Church, a longtime member of Verona Women’s Club and many other civic organizations.

Vivian is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Berkeley McLaughlin; her eldest son, Sheldon Nightingale and wife, Cherie, of Poland, Maine; daughter, Wanda Nightingale of Bucksport; son, Larry McLaughlin of Middletown, R.I.; youngest daughter, April Perkins and husband, Jay, of Surry; and son-in-law, Richard Collum of Bristol, R.I. She was predeceased by her beautiful daughter, Sherry Collum, Feb. 21, 2011. In addition to her husband and children, Vivian will be remembered by her 10 grandchildren, Andy, Amie, Danielle, Brad, Corey, Heather, Shaun, Elisha, Kristen and Kyle; and 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Patricia Bridges; and brother, Ronald Anderson.

Family and friends will gather for visitation 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at Elm Street Congregational Church with interment immediately after at Riverview Cemetery.
