SEARSPORT – Mildred S. Marden, 105, died Friday, June 8, 2012, at Harbor Hill Center, Belfast. She was born April 17, 1907, in Bradford, daughter of Eugene and Alice Smith.
Mildred was a fine seamstress and good cook; she taught piano lessons and played the piano at church. She was a member of Searsport Congregational Church, the local Grange and the Rebekah’s.
Mildred is survived by one son, Arnold Gray and wife, Phyllis; one daughter-in-law, Arlene Marden; grandchildren, Dianna Soo, Colleen Kreps, Valerie Grove, Michael Marden, Perry Marden, John Marden and Raylene Marden; as well as several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Eugene D. Marden; and one son, Eugene W. Marden.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14, at Searsport Congregational Church, Church Street, Searsport, with the Rev. Dr. Arlin T. Larson officiating. A reception will be after the service in Curtis Hall. Burial will be at Pilgrim’s Home Cemetery, Monroe. Arrangements are under the direction of Young Funeral Home, 31 West Main St., Searsport.
