  1. I wonder how many of these folks involved in the near record number of crashes so far this year have new 3D TVs and have forgotten to remove the glasses when the show is over.Anyone who proceeds ahead when the light turns green at most any Bangor or Brewer intersection without waiting for someone to come speeding  across does so at their own peril.

    1. What we have here are people who are really good, compassionate people, who “allegedly” are making bad choices.  At least that is the benefit of the doubt you asked from all in reference to the hit and run death of Joshua Constantine “allegedly” by Patty Giles.  You said that people may want to do homework before deciding what kind of person she is.  Are you doing to the same for others, or is Ms. Giles just special?

    2. In Bangor and Brewer I seen people go sailing through red lights nearly 30 seconds after my light is green, if police are not going to enforce this stuff perhaps if every stop sign was put where they shouldn’t be, red lights meant go instead of green, traffic would flow a lot smoother.

      1. When there aren’t enough police officers to handle serious crime you can forget about them setting up traffic stops and watching people that run red lights, then tak ethe time to stop them and write them a ticket. You don’t like the way things are going in your city, talk to the city manager or council and demand a change. Chances are the BDN blog isn’t going to change anything.

        1. I tried that once about 4 years ago when I almost got hit in a crosswalk with a cruiser behind the vehicle that went out in the other lane while I was crossing and kept on going The officer was nice enough to stop, the driver in front of him was not.
I spoke with the Chief and questioned why an officer would witness an event and turn the other cheek by proceeding behind the vehicle to the next intersection and then turn the other way.
His response to me was basically too bad, his officers are distracted drivers, his exact words

I am well aware of this so called BDN blog not changing anything, that was not the intent of my post.

  2. here we go again havent even cleared the the issues on the broadway crash. do we have another fatal

    1. Definitely, yes. I posed the same question  to one of my customers two years ago and he agreed. It has gotten noticeably worse since then.  And will never abate.

  3. Accidents are crazy all over this state lately, but here in Bangor everyone seems to be running red lights, turning stop signs into yield signs, not being able to see the center lines, not yielding getting on the interstate, and have I missed anything?

    1. Don’t use directional when changing lanes, or they cut your bumper off practically as they turn their directional on, rather then ensure it is clear.
      Speed through parking lots
      Skateboards/Unsupervised Kids in the street.
Jay Walkers/People can’t push buttons to walk across the street.

      The list goes on.

    2. You dont yield getting on the interstate you merge.  There is a difference.  You must be one of the jerks that refuses to move over and let people do so.

      1. It all depends on the exit.  When you’re talking about an on-ramp, you’re absolutely correct, but when you’re talking about an exit that shares its lane with an on-ramp, such as the ramps at 395, yield has to mean yield.

        1. I used to think we were to “merge” here on 95 up in the Bangor area but they are indeed YIELD signs.  However, I can never understand how people just cruise off the off ramps going full tilt with BLINDERS ON, oblivious that the cars in the travel lane cannot merely “move over” as there are other cars blocking them in on their left.

Alternatively, I can’t believe people actually COME TO A FULL STOP on those on ramps and wait for traffic to let them in onto the flowing highway either!?!

Driving takes finesse and a wee bit of skill and takes all of ones senses to complete.  I will never understand the whole multitasking thing when behind the wheel.  It cannot be done and should not be done.  DRIVING THE VEHICLE IS THE  #1 PRIORITY!!

      2.  you must be one of those know it all jerks  I couldn’t find a link to the state of maine drivers handbook but here it is in the State of NJ

        http://www.state.nj.us/mvc/pdf/Licenses/Driver%20Manual/Chapter_4.pdf

A motorist must yield to traffic already traveling on the main road before moving into the proper lane.

This is the problem in Bangor people getting on the interstate think that the drivers already on the interstate should stop for them and let them on!  IF you are on the interstate you are supposed to maintain your speed

        1. Merge and yield are 2 different things.  Most states have removed yield signs at the end of on ramps.  People in Bangor do not expect those on the highway to stop…that’s foolish.   But there is no reason not to move left when someone is coming down a ramp.  People used to almost always do this but over the last 10 years people have gotten far more selfish.   You are right… people on the highway can’t be stopping, but people getting on deserve to merge at speed and not have to stop either.

  4. Running red lights, texting, talking on phones, everything but paying attention to driving….
