NEW SHARON, Maine — Investigators in western Maine are looking for a man who they say is refusing to return a juvenile girl back to her family, according to a report from WGME TV.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says 15-year-old Opal Swearingen went missing from her foster home in New Sharon on June 11. Since then, investigators say they have learned that she ran away with a 30-year-old man who she’s been having a sexual relationship with.

The sheriff’s office says the man, Charles Fontenot, has been in contact with family members over the last two weeks and has refused to return Swearingen home safe.

Fontenot is charged with felony sexual abuse of a minor and criminal restraint. The two were last seen in Lewiston on June 12 in a Chevy Pickup 1500 with Maine registration number 1068-SW.

  1. A women has the right to do what she wants with her body, In Maine as young as 11 yrs old.. Ask any pro choice advocate or Pat LaMarche on the pulse morning show.

      1. You and Pat LaMarche must be fans of the Kardashian family.

    1. A minor is also protected via “statutory”  issues  (rape, as determined by parents or legal guardians) … as regards the “control” of a “minor” – a citizen of our state.

And thank you, “foot”, but I probably won’t be consulting, just now, any “choice advocate” about the criminal law of the state of Maine.

  2. Wow, this girl sure has the cards stacked against her.
Charles Fontenot, just because you cannot have a relationship with a grown woman does not make it right to practically kidnap this child!
