WATERVILLE, Maine — A local man who has been in trouble for domestic violence before is now facing a felony charge after assaulting his ex-girlfriend, police said.

Police were called to the emergency room at MaineGeneral Medical Center’s Thayer campus in Waterville just after 2:45 p.m. Saturday afternoon after a female reported she had been assaulted, according to Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey.

Officer Jennifer Weaver was able to locate the suspect, Jacob York, 21, on Gray Street, Rumsey said.

York allegedly had assaulted the woman in the entrance to Chez, a local bar, Rumsey said.

After an interview, York was taken into custody without incident and charged with domestic violence assault, a Class C felony because of his prior convictions, according to Rumsey.

York was taken to the Waterville police station, booked and later released on bail. He faces up to five years in prison if convicted.

The woman suffered bruising under her left eye and swelling on the left side of her head, Rumsey said.

  1. What a hero this guy is.  He beats on women and continues to get slapped on the wrist so he can go and do it again.  Its almost as if the police are telling these bums that if they dont kill their victims, they are gonna have to deal with being arrested and let out and again and again.  Doesnt anyone in law enforcement, the DA’s office or the Attorney General think at all about the victims here?

      1. so many times! ??? and what would you suggest is allowable?,, i have another suggestion, and it doesn’t include a trial..

  2. So, If Jacob York was the suspect then who or why was Gray arrested?? For cryng out load, teach this abuser a lesson he will not soon forget before he klls someone.

  3. I disagree with him being referred to as a man also. A real man does not abuse women, men, children, or animals.
