NEWPORT – Everett B. Nichols, 89, died unexpectedly June 23, 2012, at his Newport Inn residence. He was born May 27, 1923, in St. Albans, son of Robert and Elva (Ross) Nichols.
He was a World War II Air Force veteran. Everett worked at local mills; Baxter’s, Banton Brothers and Dexter Shoe retiring, in May 1984. He was married to Olive Warner Nichols, who died Oct 19, 2010. For many years Everett was the resident caretaker at Newport Inn. He loved blue grass and country western music. He enjoyed singing karaoke and dancing. He was a member of National Rifle Association and Brewer Eagles Club.
Everett is survived by two sisters, Helen Bowman of Falmouth and Beverley Chute of Bowdoinham; one stepson, Paul LeVasseur of Las Vegas; five stepdaughters, Rose Robinson of Hartland, Joan Connelly of Hartland, Anita “Pootsie” LeVasseur of St. Albans, Della LeVasseur of St. Albans and Glennis Vanadestine of Florida; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday, June 29, at Maloon Cemetery, St. Albans, with Pastor Clayton Ramsdell officiating.
