FALMOUTH, Maine — A North Yarmouth teenager was summoned for running a red light in connection with a crash that took the life of a woman Saturday, according to police.
Ian Philbrick, 17, was cited for running a red light at the intersection of U.S. Route 1 and Johnson Road, according to Falmouth Police Chief Ed Tolan.
Glenice Hutchins, 80, of Falmouth was killed in the crash while Albert Anderson, 67, also of Falmouth suffered injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening.
Hutchins was a passenger in Anderson’s vehicle, Tolan said.

What a sorry situation. I’m not even sure a 17 yr. old can understand what taking a life means. Seems it isn’t like he was hunting someone down, gun in hand. It was a traffic violation / mishap / indescretion. I would not want to be a judge trying to mete out a just ruling. What a sad situation.
At age 17, of course he knows what “taking a life” means. He simply gambled that he could get away with this and someone died.
