JONESPORT – Grace Emma (Alley) Caler, 84, died unexpectedly June 25, 2012, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Nov. 9, 1927, in Jonesport, the daughter of the late Jason and Evelyn (Merchant) Alley.

She was a 41-year member of American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Narraguagus Post No. 8, Cherryfield. She also enjoyed playing Beano, taking care of others children, as well as being a loving mother and grandmother to her own family.

She is survived by her two daughters, Betty and husband, Millard Crowley, and Linda and husband, Lyman Crowley; four grandchildren, Jason, Shelley, Aura and Cody; five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Roland and wife, Pat; a sister, Idella Mills; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Alley; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Erwin L. Caler; an infant son, Darrell; a brother, Morrill; and two infant sisters.

Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at McClure Funeral Home, corner of Charles and Drisko streets, Machias. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, June 29, at Greenwood Cemetery, Jonesport. Arrangements are in care of McClure Family Funeral Services, Machias and Lubec.
