PARKMAN – Basil L. Wentworth Jr., 57, died peacefully June 25, 2012, at Mayo Regional Hospital, Dover-Foxcroft, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 20, 1955, in Dover-Foxcroft, the first of four children born to Basil and Lorraine (Darke) Wentworth Sr.
He was raised in Parkman, attended area schools and worked locally before moving to Tennessee to raise his family. Later he moved to Florida, where he worked briefly before becoming ill and recently returned home.
He is survived by his parents of Parkman; his brother, Randy and wife, Cheri, of Abbot; sister, Nancy and fiance, Alvin, of Guilford; his four children, Nicky and Eric of Tennessee and Ashley and Skylar of Florida; two grandchildren, McKenzie and Landen; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and a close brother-in-law, Dennis Cookson of Abbot. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Tammy Saulmer Wentworth. He was predeceased by his sister, Linda Cookson. The family thanks the staff at Mayo Regional Hospital for the excellent care he received during his brief stay.
Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at Abbot Village Cemetery with Pastor Ray Beless officiating.
