BREWER, Maine — Detectives with the Brewer Police Department are investigating a robbery early Wednesday morning at the Big Apple gas station and convenience store on South Main Street.
The robber, who fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, remained on the lam Wednesday evening, Brewer police Lt. Christopher Martin said.
Martin said that a Maine State Police tracking dog team was brought to the area immediately after the robbery. He added that city detectives are pursuing several leads and are asking the public to help them apprehend the suspect.
According to Martin, the robber entered the store and demanded cash. No weapon was used.
Martin described the robber as a male who is thin in build and about 5 feet 6 inches tall. At the time of the robbery, the robber’s face was covered and he was wearing dark clothing and gloves.
“We’re asking the community for help because by holding this person accountable, we are sending the message that this type of activity will not be tolerated in Brewer. We take it seriously and we take it personally,” Martin said.
Martin urged anyone who might have seen unusual activity in the South Main Street area or who has information about the robbery or the suspect to call Brewer detectives at 989-7003.
