SACO, Maine — Officials say a Saco man has become the first person charged with illegally selling fireworks under Maine’s new fireworks law.
The state fire marshal’s office says 21-year-old Gregory Jutras was advertising on the Internet that he was selling fireworks.
Officials say an undercover investigator met Jutras in the parking lot of the Maine Mall on Friday to complete the sale of 16,000 firecrackers and other fireworks. Investigators say Jutras had more fireworks in his car for other customers, and that additional fireworks were also found at his apartment.
He was issued a summons for selling consumer fireworks without a license.
Officials say only licensed fireworks dealers can sell fireworks in Maine.

thought we were in a bad economey??? who the heck is buying 16,000 fireworks? Can you buy them with food stamps?
Wow you should learn how to read before you comment….
Firecrackers are very often sold by the brick which contain 80 packs sometimes 100 packs,
So, the first 4th of july Maine people can have fireworks after a 70 year prohibition, you can’t believe that someone who is not on assistance would buy 10 bricks???
All media like to make everything sound sensational.
You have a very narrow world view.
This is just another perfect example of who/what is responsible for why Fireworks were illegal all these years…because of people like this……they love to ruin it for everyone else…it’s the American Way now…
And what exactly did he ruin? Trying to make a few bucks without a license? what a joke
Are you serious? Obviously your in the habit of doing things against the law to think this is ok??? No harm no fowl, huh? Why dont he do what most honest people do…get a job and stop being a menace to society…
Now us taxpayers have to feed his face while he sits in jail….
big friggin deal…waste of tax dollars
What is a waste of tax dollars is that now we taxpayers;
(I am assuming you are excluded?) have to feed him while he is jail because he wanted to make money illegally on the side…….If he wanted to sell fireworks he should have asked for a job when they opened the shop
