WATERVILLE, Maine — A Waterville man is facing numerous drug charges after a monthlong investigation led to his arrest on Thursday, according to police.
A confidential informant had made four cocaine purchases from Joshua Porfirio, 23, over the course of the last month, according to Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey.
Investigators issued a search warrant for Porfirio’s home on Drummond Avenue, which is located near the George Mitchell School.
Around 10:30 a.m. Thursday, authorities observed Porfirio walking on High Street with three children — his son, stepson and younger brother — and placed him under arrest without incident, Rumsey said.
Although no drugs were found at Porfirio’s residence, he had five clonazepam pills and an oxycodone pill on him when police took him into custody.
Porfirio was charged with a Class A felony aggravated trafficking in cocaine, Class C felony possession of a scheduled drug for the oxycodone and possession of a schedule Z drug for the clonazepam, a Class E misdemeanor, Rumsey said.
Porfirio was booked into the Kennebec County Jail, where bail was set at $2,500. He is due in court Oct. 30.
