ORONO, Maine — Stefan Micovic, a 6-foot-8-inch forward from Serbia, has signed to play basketball for the University of Maine men’s team this season, head coach Ted Woodward announced in a press release Sunday.
“Stefan is a wonderful addition to our recruiting class,” Woodward said in the release. “He has great size, athleticism, and an excellent skill set. He provides us with some needed size and we look forward to his growth and development in our program.”
Micovic averaged 24 points, 10 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game while shooting 64 percent inside the 3-point arc and 76 percent from the free throw line for his Kris Kros Pancevo club at the Serbian Junior National Championships.
Micovic joins Dimitry Akanda-Coronel, Till Gloger, Jon Mesghna and Shaun Lawton in the men’s basketball recruiting class of 2012.
The eligibility of all student-athletes is contingent upon admission to the University of Maine and compliance with all NCAA rules, including registration with the NCAA Clearinghouse.
