UNITY, Maine — A Bangor man was arrested for violating bail conditions and assaulting an officer while drinking on Saturday.

Jeffrey Harvey, 51, is in Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset after Waldo County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a disturbance on the Town Farm Road at 3:45 p.m. Saturday.

“Two people were in the road with beer bottles, drinking and having an argument,” said Deputy Jordan Tozier.

Harvey, who is prohibited from drinking alcohol as part of his bail conditions, was charged with assault, violation of condition of release and refusing to submit to arrest or detention. Tozier suffered a minor cut on his hand, he said.

Harvey was initially taken to Waldo County Jail in Belfast, but was transferred to Two Bridges Regional Jail.

According to Bangor Daily News archives, Harvey has a long history with police and alcohol.

Harvey was convicted of driving under the influence in 1987, 1992, 1996 and 2005.

In 1987, he was sentenced to 11 months in jail, one month shy of the maximum sentence, after he was convicted for drunken driving in connection with a 1986 accident in which four people from the same Lincoln family were killed.

Superior Court Justice Andrew Mead told Harvey that he was a “hazard to society” because of his repeated offenses and gave him the maximum-allowed sentence of five years in prison for drunken driving in 2005. He was convicted in June 2005 of aggravated operating under the influence of intoxicants in connection with a motorcycle-car accident on June 11, 2004, that seriously injured Barri Babcock of Carmel.

  1. So is he the poster boy for Maine’s so-called “tough drunken driving law?”
What about “three strikes and you’re out?”
    What about “Habitual offender laws?”
    Book ‘im, Danno…forever.

    1. 25 years ago the laws were much more lax.  Still too lax IMHO, but at least they’re better than they used to be.

        1. Amen ! But by no means should anyone judge him based on his past CRIMINAL history or the FACT he was VIOLATING bail conditions and ASSUALTED a police officer. But hey…he’s really a decent guy if you ignore :
“Harvey has a long history with police and alcohol.
Harvey was convicted of driving under the influence in 1987, 1992, 1996 and 2005. ”

So please Ms Harvey…spare me the my daddy is a swell guy rhetoric. If you care for him, get him some help. An intervention…get him to go to AA meetings. Something so that the next time he drinks and drives or simply gets hot under the collar he won’t harm or kill someone else (….or me….or even YOU. )

      1.  Honey, he told you that story so you wouldn’t hate him for being a murderer.  You’ll understand when you get older.

      2. Mr. Harvey is the victim here, right
And Mr. Babcock?  How is it that he wronged Mr. Harvey?
Loser.  How many more will die or be maimed before this POS is put away for good?

  2. He was arrested for violating bail conditions, but I don’t see what he was on bail for.  Does anyone know?

    1. yes, I do. His past  convictions are errelavint. He was on bail for verbal assult, a minor offense and a wrongful one at that. The women that he verbally assulted is a no good user who used him and my family, she called the cops on him after telling him to argue with her ex. yes he shouldnt of been drinking but that ho shouldnt of told him to do something then condemn him to jail for it.

      1. Irrelevant? Honey, he killed 4 people and ruined the life of another family. No, that shouldn’t be taken into consideration at all!

  3. Maine law says that another oui would be looked at as his second oui because he has only had one in the last 10 years…well that is what the law “supposed” to look at…but I am for breaking the rules and throw him to prison for life for assault…what a loser

  4. For God’s sake guy….put your big boy pants on and start acting like a real man. You’re 51 years old for crying out loud. Get help and take some responsibility like an adult.

          1.  Except that it does, because he seems to get in trouble a lot when alcohol is around.

  5. And he is on the streets why?????? Well, short break in that-Two Bridges for a few days, but then right back out…and we wonder why we are were we are….sad…

  6. What, may I ask is wrong with the Maine State Prison???  This guy is not going to learn. I don’t see how anyone could just let him go after all this. Killed 4 people and a serious injury to another one…. really seems like a no brainer. Come on Maine you can do better. On the other hand, they live a lot better in jail than our troops do overseas.

  7. Time to ‘grab some buds’ and have a good time! He’s just the result of decades of alcohol abuse.
    Legalize it!

  8. Ya know if people like this were where they belong–then they wouldn’t be adorning our newspapers over and over and over…

    1. Excuse me, but you dont know my father or anything about his convictions! Id appreciate it if you didnt wish death upon a man you dont know! None of you ppl know him of his life so dont run your mouth.

      1. Sorry, Katina, but I have no sympathy for a drunk that killed four people and, to this day, goes on drinking to excess and breaking the law. Will you continue to stick up for him if he kills some more people?

  9. “Harvey was convicted of driving under the influence in 1987, 1992, 1996 and 2005.”   wow wow wow..   11 months in jail only..then 5 years…… Keep him in jail.  Our Maine court system makes it easy for people to continue this behavior. How about keep people like this in jail for good. He will be out again drinking for sure!

        1. It doesnt matter what i tell you people, you dont understand the truth, all you guys care about is keeping the drama going, im not saying he is free and clear and shouldnt be charged, what im saying is that you dont know everything, you know only wat the media wants you to and u also dont have right to trash talk his family!

          1. Katina, no one knows or loves your dad like you do.  I am sure there are many good things about your dad that people on the outside don’t know.  Really, you should do yourself a favor and not read/comment on this board.  It only serves to upset you and give more fodder for the trolls.  My dad had a drinking problem, maybe yours does too?  If so, I hope you will try to go to an Al-Anon meeting…not for him, but for yourself.  Good luck to you and your family. <3

  10. his entire family  is trash
makes me sick to think we tax payers have to fund this maggot in jail

    1. Excuse me? Im far from trash, Im a current student pursuing a career in forensic psychology! you dont talk smack about those you dont know or about stories and convictions that dont concern you! My father is not the man the media portrays him to be, none of you know the truth

  11. His whole family trash? I dont think so! And none of you know him, he is my father and this story is throwing past convictions into a dispute that doesn’t refer to any of it. None of you know the real stories! The conviction of 1987 wasnt his fault. Yes, he was intoxicated, but the car containing the Lincoln family swerved into HIS lane! They were avoiding a child in the road retreiving a ball, what did you want my father to do, hit the kid? No, i didnt think so! You all need to get a life and stop saying things about people you dont know and dont have any reson to be slandering. This is all apart of the news trying to sell stories, not truth.

  12. Wow so he’s already killed 4 people, and he’s still this much of an a-hole?

No hope for him. He’s had his chance. Its someone else’s turn.
