EASTON and MARS HILL – Fred Tompkins, 85, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012, at a Mars Hill health care facility. He was born Dec. 8, 1926, in British Columbia, the son of Harvey and Pearl Tompkins.
Fred worked for many years for area farmers and could be seen many times parked on Main Street, Mars Hill, sitting on his moped.
Fred is survived by his brother, Guy of Westfield. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Willard; and a sister, Gladys.
Funeral services will take place 1 p.m. Thursday at East Ridge Union Church with Pastor Lawrence Beals officiating. Friends may call noon until the time of service at the church.
