      1. This fair is terrible. Not only the clientel, which no one has control over that, but in general it is a real dirty midway, there is little to offer compared to other fairs in the state. Skowhegan Fair is a good comparison. They use the same outfit for the midway, but the venue and variety far outdoes Bangor in every way. Many more agricultural events. As well as Bangor is doing in the entertainment business, this is one area that needs major overhaul.

        1. Crazy, then, that it’s so popular.  When I was there last year, it was crowded with lines for many of the rides.

    1. I can go to Walmart and get more entertainment value and you don’t have to pay to go in and look around.

    1. There are tons of people there when it’s in town, so maybe it’s not that terrible.

  1. When the Bangor hits town the summer is just about complete. In less when a month you will feel the fall air rolling through. High school football is getting ready start. So if you go the fair enjoy and and just know that the crisp leave are close.

  2. This is definately one attraction that Bangor should do away with. It is dirty, the fair employees are dirty and really sends a bad message of what Bangor is all about. I agree, Showhegan, Blue Hill and Fryeburg have good fairs with lots of positive attractions. I don’t like seeing the people it attracts and am glad my son has no interest in attending

  3. It’s a shame that people are being so elitist.  This fair is popular and draws a lot of people.  Saying that it should end because it doesn’t attract the “right” people is wrong.  If you don’t like it, don’t go-go to Skowhegan or Blue Hill, then, but don’t say that it should close down.

    1. I hate to differ with you, but this fair has dwindled in the years.  Its not popular as five years ago.  Its disgusting up there now

    2.  We do go to Blue Hill. Yes, it’s smaller, but its much cleaner and the folks there are way less sketchy. I went to Bangor once, that was enough!

  4. My family avoids the BSF like the plague…the workers are dirty and creepy. The midway looks dingy and outdated. A far cry from when we went as kids. I’ll pass thanks.

  5. Went once a few years ago and was severely disappointed.  Never again.  Too early and too sparse in what makes a good state fair (and I’ve been to several).  And the new pricing stinks.  What if you don’t want to go on the rides?
