WASHINGTON — Kenosha Beef International, Ltd., is recalling approximately 37,600 pounds of frozen bacon cheeseburger patties, some sold in Maine, because they might contain pieces of gasket material, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Thursday.
The products subject to recall include 2-pound cartons containing six patties of Sam’s Choice Fireside Gourmet Black Angus Beef Patties Bacon and Aged Cheddar.
All products were produced on June 11, 2012. The packages bear the establishment number “EST425B” and “best if used by” date code of 120812B printed on the carton’s end panel. The products were distributed in Indiana, Maine, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Wisconsin.
The Food Safety and Inspection Service was alerted to the problem by the Wisconsin-based firm after the company received a consumer complaint. The FSIS and the company have received no reports of injury or illnesses associated with consumption of this product. Anyone concerned about an illness should contact a health care provider.
Consumers with questions about the recall should call Tom Henderson, director of quality assurance, at 1-800-541-1685, ext. 1351.
Consumers with food safety questions can “Ask Karen,” the FSIS virtual representative available 24 hours a day at AskKaren.gov or via smartphone at m.askkaren.gov.

Maine local farmers don’t have gasket materials in their burgers.
Right, unless they have a disgruntled employee.
All employees have been carefully re-gruntled on a regular basis.
OOPs, where was the USDA on June 11?
Why do people buy pre-made/formed burger patties…..
Grow your own!! Buy local, get it at a meat market.
So where were they sold?
no doubt hannaford, trying to not say their name so they don’t draw more attention to the garbage they sell to us.
have to say your really some jerk always ready to blame someone you don’t stop to think where hannaford gets their product you’d be surprise how much of it comes from maine
“Sam’s Choice”
Last time I checked, Sam Walton (as in Walmart and Sam’s Club) has nothing to do with Hanny’s.
p.s. just bought a pound of burger at Hannaford’s yesterday.
With the brand being Sam’s Choice, I would assume they would be sold at Walmart and Sam’s Club….that’s just a guess though.
I surmised that myself, but when reporting on a food product recall that’s something that should be stated in the article. Readers should not have to make assumptions.
These were sold only at Walmart….at least that is what PPH is saying.

Could this be the result of one of the many “gaskets” Gov. Lepage has blown????
Kind of a stupid article, where were these sold??
Glad I don’t eat meat.
gee lets blame this on hannaford everything else is
The gasket probably tastes as good as these burgers and is most likely O.K. if it’s cooked properly !
Here’s a letter to the editor from an honest Maine citizen. It says, “Get government out of my life.”
Right below it is an article that says, “Frozen burger patties sold in Maine recalled because they might contain gasket material”
It is no secret that GWB and his Republican friends cut back on the stringent government inspection requirements in meat plants. Less government inspection means that more sub-standard meat sneaks onto your dinner table which means more profits for the meat companies.
In progressive countries one task of the government is to protect working people and small business owners from the predations of the rich. Here corporate America elects too many of our representatives. If they want to be reelected they had best look the other way when gasket material turns up in your hamburger.

watch frankensteer on netflix. You will see how the beef is really made. Its no wonder that there are so many recalls.
Buy local food. Know your food sources. Very simple.
But that makes too much SENSE!
Now that corn is in such short supply-perhaps the auto junk yards could collect and reuse the millions of gaskets in their possession. Nobody reads the labels on food anyway.
