VAN BUREN – Louise Parent, 85, died Aug. 9, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at Cary Medical Center, Caribou. She was born Dec. 3, 1926, the daughter of Eloi and Leonie (Dufour) Albert.
She was a 1944 graduate of Madawaska High School. Louise was a devoted wife to her husband, Edwin, for nearly 53 years, until his death in 2005. She was a loving and generous mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and she truly cared for her extended family. She will also be remembered for her kindness and for the special, unassuming way she had with people. She found strength and serenity in her Catholic faith, which was at the heart of her life. Louise was an active parishioner of St. Bruno-St. Remi Parish, having served as a religious education teacher for many years and as a volunteer for parish bazaars and for the Mercy Meal Committee. She had made a Cursillo and was a member of the Third Order of Mary and Affiliate of the Good Shepherd Sisters. Louise was also a life member of American Legion Auxiliary, Unit No. 49, Van Buren.
Louise is survived by five sons, the Rev. Philip Parent, S.M., of Boston, Daniel Parent of Sanford, Patrick Parent and his wife, Nancy, of Limerick, Charles Parent, D.O., of Kennebunk and David Parent and his wife, Jane, of Bradford,Mass.; three daughters, Lorraine Lajoie and her husband, Brian, of Van Buren, Ruth Moreau and her husband, David, of Woodland and Ann Valente of Scarborough; two sisters, Cecile Guerrette of Washburn and Martha Guerrette and her husband, Antoine, of St. David; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by brothers, Donat, Alphonse, Leo and Romeo Albert; and sisters, Monique Beaulieu and Rachel Roy.
Relatives and friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 9-10:30 a.m. Monday at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Committal service and interment will be afterward in the parish cemetery.
