BREWER and FORT FAIRFIELD – Jean A. Schwartz, 78, wife of the late Robert A. Schwartz, passed away Sunday morning, Aug. 26, 2012, at a Bangor nursing facility after an extended illness. She was born April 17, 1934, in Fort Fairfield, daughter of Ivan W. and Edith C. (Deyone) Morrell.
Jean was a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School, class of 1952 and was married to Robert A. Schwartz, Sept. 26, 1952. She had been employed as a bookkeeper at several banks and also the former Fort Five Star Auto Repair Center, Fort Fairfield. Jean was a lifelong communicant of Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield; and a life member of Fort Fairfield Daughters of Isabella, Santa Maria Circle No. 427, where she served in various positions including regent. She was also a past member of Fort Fairfield Junior Chamber of Commerce and at the time of her death a member of Fort Fairfield Alumni Association. Jean enjoyed crafts including ceramics, sewing, cross-stitching and knitting. She also loved animals and playing cards. Jean will be remembered by all who knew her for her generosity. She leaves a legacy of a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband, Robert, July 30, 2008; one brother, Glenn Morrell; one grandson, Jeremy Michael Kilcollins; and one niece, Linda Dumond. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald I. and Molly Schwartz of Fort Fairfield, and James H. and Debbie Schwartz of Peoria, Ariz.; two daughters, Theresa E. Kilcollins of Biddeford and Sandra L. Chambers of Hermon; 10 grandchildren, Christopher and Edith Schwartz, both of Bar Harbor, Robert Schwartz of Caribou, James Schwartz of Peoria, Ariz., Jessamy Kilcollins of Boston, Benjamin Kilcollins of Biddeford, Jacob Chambers of Fort Fairfield, Lacey Chambers of Hermon, Ashley Chambers of Fort Fairfield, and Margaret Chambers of Hermon; and two great-grandchildren, Wyatt Chambers of Fort Fairfield, Lorelie Schwartz of Bar Harbor. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and many friends at Fields Lane, Fort Fairfield.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a vigil service will be conducted 7:30 p.m. by the Rev. Raymond Morency. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main St., Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. Raymond Morency, celebrant. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the Mass at Knights of Columbus Hall Council No. 1753, 260 Main St., Fort Fairfield. Interment will take place 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. At Jean’s request, please omit flowers.
