LEVANT – Foster B. Poole died Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, in Bangor, after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 7, 1947, in Calais, the son of Estelle Getchell Poole and Guy Poole.
Foster was raised and educated in the Calais area and as a young man served in the U.S. Navy as a shipboard medic. He lived for many years in the Albany, N.Y., area and worked in construction, both there and in the Calais area, before moving to Levant 17 years ago.
Surviving are three daughters, Denise Velardi and her husband, Mike, and their children, Katelyn and Shane, Nicole Poole and Marjorie Poole and her son, Riley Foster, Poole, all of New York; his longtime partner, Dolores Purvis of Levant and her family; brothers, Raymond and his wife, Janet, and their sons of North Carolina and Robert and his wife, Dotty, of Perry; many nieces and nephews, including niece, Sherry Robinson, who he considered “one of the kids.” Foster was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Winslow, Kenny, Guy Jr. and Phil; sisters, Marjorie and Pat; and the mother of his children, Diane Moody Poole. He will be greatly missed by the many people he knew in Levant and Corinth, as well as his old friends in Calais and New York. He was one-of-a-kind.
