CARIBOU – Helen (Plourde) Haines, 58, died Sept. 1, 2012, with her family by side at her home, after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born Nov. 17, 1953, in Van Buren, daughter of late O’Neil and Irene (Fournier) Plourde.
She was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Helen was a 1972 graduate of Caribou High School and in 1977 she married Steve Haines. She was employed at Mecon Manufacturing, Caribou, for more than 25 years.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Steve of Caribou, are her three daughters and sons-in-law, Wendy and Jason Ouellette and their children, Jacob, Parker, Cooper and Joel, of Locke, N.Y., Crystal and Stephen Tripp and their daughter, Sophie, of New Gloucester and Casey and Kyle Harpine of Caribou; six sisters, Johan Ouellette of Connecticut, Alice and Robert Ouellette of Stockholm, Susan Petrencik of Lisbon, Marlene and Hubert Keaton, Patsy Levesque, and Ann and Paul Morin, all of Caribou; five brothers, Nelson and Anne Plourde of Massachusetts, Normand Plourde of Stockholm, Francis Plourde of Jefferson, Tommy and Debbie Plourde of Saco, and Jimmy and Jolene Plourde of Millinocket; father-in-law, Mack Haines of Caribou; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one brother-in-law, Patrick Levesque; two sisters-in-law, Diane and Shirley Plourde; and mother-in-law, Phyllis Haines.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. A Mass of a Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at Parish of the Precious Blood, Sacred Heart Church with the Very Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie officiating. After the service a time of continued fellowship and refreshments will be held at the parish center. Burial will be at Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou. www.mocklerfuneralhome.com
