WATERVILLE, Maine — A Waterville transient is facing burglary charges after an alert taxicab driver noticed a man entering a Temple Street bakery through a window Sunday evening, according to police.

Police arrested Khanh Le, 44, after officers arrived at the bakery, which is just a block from the police department, just after 8 p.m. and noticed the open window, Waterville police Chief Joseph Massey said.

When they secured the perimeter of the building, Le strolled out, empty-handed and with a hood on his sweatshirt covering his head.

“I would suspect he knew that they were out there,” Massey said. “He didn’t walk out with any stolen items.”

Nevertheless, Le is facing a Class C felony charge of burglary for entering the bakery, Massey said.

Le was booked into the Kennebec County Jail, where he remained Monday afternoon. If convicted, he could spend up to five years in prison.

  1. Bangor is definitely working toward the title of “Best Transient City in America.”  Don’t let them have a phone or a postcard because all of their buddies will show up in town.

      1. jdex didn’t realize this because he’s a random homeless guy positng from the public library and had to hurry because his 10 minutes were up.
