AUGUSTA, Maine — Final approval of an expanded gambling area at Maine’s newest casino is being considered by the state Gambling Control Board.

At its regular meeting Tuesday, the board will consider approving an expansion to the Oxford Casino, which opened in June in the western Maine town of Oxford.

The casino now has 529 slot machines and 12 table games including blackjack, craps and roulette.

It’s hoping to add 10 more table games and hundreds more slot machines in October.

  1. The commission ought to concider upping the payout prize sizes for both casinos. They are doing the business of the people and the people(customers) are the last people the commission conciders.

  2. How about giving half of those 10 table games and a 100 slots to the Maliseet tribe a hundred or so miles to the north … we could sure use the boost with our lack of housing, education mental health needs? Sure would be a nice help Mr. Gambling Control Board members.

We’re not going to bother asking the racist majority this question … we’ve heard the answer … twice.

Perhaps, like Bangor’s Hollywood Slots and, now, Oxford … their requests are, in some magical, extra legal way, within your purview … so, we want in, too.

After all, the voters, in those referendums, did not approve the extras Hollywood Slots got and Oxford is, obviously,  gonna get. So, let’s just cut through the “grab all you can get cause we’re white and our white government makes or changes the rules and nobody can stop them” BS, and let the Maliseets, a tribe a little to the north, operate a “starter” casino on a scale smaller than the “increases” that were “extra-legally” and without the consent of the people allowed.

I know you don’t want to hear from us, but, at what point do you say, “enough is enough” and start contracting directly with the Chinese?

  3. The owners of the Oxford Casino should show a little patience. There is a very limited amount of disposable income in south western Maine. They will get every nickle of it eventually. Then they will report a drop in “earnings”, just like Hollywood Slots/Casino did. Then they will shut the doors and go find some other small town rubes who want the “economic boon” that a casino will bring to them! lol.

  4. Ya, we’ve sure come a long way from “Gambling is not good for Maine” and “Not good economic development” and “Gambling will invite crime in Maine” as it was when the tribes initiated the effort.
