ELLSWORTH, Maine — According to a Maine-based environmental advocacy group, there is evidence that Maine has been experiencing warmer temperatures and more “extreme precipitation” events in recent years.
In a prepared statement released Oct. 16, Environment Maine said increases in extreme weather have been attributed by scientists to global warming. More severe weather events can be expected in the future, the advocacy group said, if carbon pollution emissions that are fueling global warming are not reduced.
The National Weather Service confirmed it has gotten warmer in Maine but noted that precipitation records are inconclusive.
“Given scientists’ warnings that recent trends in extreme weather are linked to global warming, we need to cut dangerous carbon pollution now,” Nora Graubard, field associate with Environment Maine, said in the statement.
In making its case, Environment Maine cites data that indicates:
• From January to July 2012, Portland’s average temperature was 48.2 degrees, or 3.6 degrees higher than past averages. During the same period, Bangor’s average temperature was 46 degrees, also 3.6 degrees higher than past averages.
• For both Bangor and Portland, the first seven months of 2012 were the second warmest from January through July in 72 years. Nationally, the same time period was the warmest on record.
• Maine experienced a 74 percent increase in extreme precipitation between 1948 and 2011. Fierce storms that used to occur once a year now occur nearly every seven months.
Rich Okulski, a meteorologist with National Weather Service in Caribou, said Sunday that climatic data does indicate that temperatures in Maine have been increasing in recent years. He said it is not clear from data collected by the National Weather Service that there have been more frequent heavy precipitation events in Maine during the past decade or so.
“There were fiercer winter storms in the 1970s than we have had in recent years,” he said.
He added that there seemed to be more tropical storm activity in the Northeast in the 1930s, 1940s, and even the 1960s than there has been in more recent decades.
Okulski said this doesn’t mean Maine hasn’t been getting rain. Some recent years have been wet, he said, and rainstorms this weekend and last month have dumped about four inches of rain in parts of Eastern Maine, which is about twice as much as the average rain event.
A search of data posted on the National Climatic Data Center website, administered by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, lists only two “heavy rain” events that occurred in Maine in the past six years. One was on Feb. 13, 2008 and the other on March 8, 2008.
The same database lists many storms for the same time period in Maine under the categories “heavy snow” and “winter storm.”
Environment Maine indicated that state and federal policymakers need to take action against the largest sources of carbon pollution and to promote clean energy solutions, including energy efficiency, electric vehicles, wind power and solar power, in order to combat global warming.
Two Obama administration initiatives — both of which enjoy public support, according to the group — are critical to begin pollution reductions called for by scientists, the group said. Those initiatives are carbon pollution and fuel efficiency standards that were recently established for cars and light trucks through model year 2025, and the first-ever carbon pollution standards for new power plants.
Environment Maine also credited the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative in the Northeast with leading to nearly $1 billion in investments in energy efficiency and clean energy solutions in the region by requiring polluters to purchase permits for carbon pollution. The regional pollution reduction initiative should be strengthened to include lower pollution limits, the group said.
“Maine officials can build on the progress we have made reducing emissions by strengthening RGGI, which has been a key part of our strategy to reduce pollution and shift to clean energy,” Graubard said in the group’s statement.

I moved to Maine in 1976, believing Maine was going to get warmer and consequently wetter. At that time there was no linkage to CO2; and as far as I’m concerned there still isn’t. In fact, temps and ocean levels have plateaued; and CO2 emissions have been reduced.
What hasn’t changed is the amount of solar radiation we receive, and the reduction in rain absorbing ground, i.e. much of the rainfall is shed and finds its way into floodable streets and overloaded culverts.
odd…this story ws written 6 days ago, and then comes to BDN after a weather event….When will the Global warming crowd start to figure out…pssst, noone believes in man-made global warming…..you’l have to force it on the American people thru the U.N….America will not buy the lie….
I guess I’m nobody – I believe in man-made global warming.
if you really believe in man made global warming then your outlook must be pretty bleak. the amount of Co2 the U.S.produces will be eclipsed very soon if not already by China. If we stopped all carbon emissions it would not make a dent in world wide output. do some homework on this and you might change your mind, don’t take my word for it,find out for your self.
Yes, I think we are pretty well screwed. I believe that storms and other weather-related calamities will cost us dearly in lives and economic impact during my lifetime.
We release the most CO2 per person in the world, China is working towards reducing their CO2 output (using wind solar and nuclear power instead of coal). The Kyoto Accords were stopped because of American intransiance,
You are the one who needs to get some education about Global Climate Change.
You are incorrect. China is bringing on line 2 new electric power plants per week and have been for most of the last decade. The vast majority of which are Coal fired.

http://www.grabstats.com/statmain.aspx?StatID=722
The Kyoto Accords fell apart because they were unworkable. Not only was the US opposed but nearly every other industrial oil producing country was as well. Canada and Russia both pulled out so they could develop their resources.
You are incorrect. China is leading the Globe in Renewable Energy investment. It takes upwards of 5 years to bring a power plant on line so there is a lag between the building of coal power plants and the change to greener power plants.
http://www.forbes.com/sites/jackperkowski/2012/07/27/china-leads-the-world-in-renewable-energy-investment/
Yes, Russia and Canada pulled out of the Kyoto Accords but they did so because the USA was fighting against it tooth and nail and they saw no reason to go forward if the US was not going to be on board. Of course the oil-producing countries woudl be against it but teh industrial users of oil would have worked within the Accord if the US had been willing to work within the guidelines as well.
Chinas desire to lead the world in “”Clean Energy Production” as your link indicates and what they are actually doing are two different things. Yes it takes 5 years to bring a plant on line and they have been at it for over a decade. They are taking down dirtier coal plants and putting up clean coal plants… As I provided evidence, about one per week.
Here is a link 4 years old…. but the only thing that has changed from the article is a slower economic growth rate.
http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2008/02/chinas-2030-co2/
BTW a friend of mine just returned from China including visiting the cities of Qiqihar & Daqing. The major petroleum producing cities of China.
“Canada is formally withdrawing from the Kyoto accord, Environment Minister Peter Kent said Monday.
The decision to do so will save the government an estimated $14
billion in penalties, Kent said. The Conservative government says it has
no choice given the economic situation.”
Why dont you move to those countires if this is so important to you. Americans do not believe what this movement is selling, and the facts bear this out….And your answer is bigger govt who forces people to believe this lie by punishing them with economic hardships…Do you pinky swear to give back all the money that was stolen and turn our culture back to a free society when you are proved wrong? geez
yes, those who manage thier energy needs will meet the needs of thier people….those who play around with wind, solar and tidal power (as more than just a hobby or ‘corner’ of a market) will see thier quality of life go way down and thier freedoms become a commodity of the Government. Global warming is a tool of socialism and big government. There is no positive or upside to having your government control your power….its even worse for the environment….When your government is in reliant on other contries for its energy needs, believe me, the environment will take a backseat everytime..At least now, the private sector stakes its life on preserving its environment while providing energy for ALL citizens…Look at BP, who’d a thunk that after that accident, they wouldn’t just go away…..they cleaned it up because it was right, and they have a vested interest in continuing to mine for oil…small feeble mionded people do not understand the complexities of what it takes to create energy for this country…but they pretend to know….
Don’t glorify BP. Their cavalier policies almost destroyed at least three very good companies. Want to see fossil fuel production as a tool of big government? Don’t look here, go to Venezuela, Russia, OPEC, etc.
Again, you might want to step up your propaganda on this issue….you and your side are losing ground to the truth……hey, maybe we can rename it?
Here is what the kooks are up to to ‘combat’ global warming…er, climate change…..
Solar radiation management is a type of geoengineering that would manipulate the climate in order to reduce the impact of global warming caused by greenhouse gasses. Ideas include increasing the amount of aerosols in the stratosphere, which could scatter incoming solar light away from Earth’s surface, or creating low-altitude marine clouds to reflect these same rays.
Research models have indicated that the climatic effect of this type of geoengineering will vary by region, because the climate systems respond differently to the reflecting substances than they do to the atmospheric carbon dioxide that traps warmth in Earth’s atmosphere. New work from a team including Carnegie’s Ken Caldeira uses a climate model to look at maximizing the effectiveness of solar radiation management techniques.
So either let nature takes it course, or let kooks start to manipulate the environment….These kooks are indoctrinating your kids…might want to teach them the truth now, before these wacko’s get thier shot at them….
You really need to do more research on geoengineering. There was an article on Saturday in the NY Times about a private businessman from California that dumped 100 Metric tonnes of iron into the ocean to “study” the effects it would have on reducing the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere. He will be lucky to not go to jail for several violations of international law.
Geoengineering is a very young science with very little evidence to back it up. There are a few ideas about how we can reduce the amount of sunlight entering the planet, as well as mechanical means to scrub CO2 from the atmosphere, but they are just ideas right now and most likely won’t be feasible, either economically or scientifically.
The idea of releasing aerosols into the atmosphere to reflect sunlight back in to space is the same mechanism that caused the giant holes in the Ozone back in the 70’s and 80’s.
Believe me you really don’t want Nature to take it’s course with our present rate of releasing CO2 and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. It won’t be pretty.
I was not promoting geoengineering…I was mocking it as your sides attempt to fix your percieved threat from CO2…
Once again, those process have very little support from “our side”.
Then your not doing a very good job
The measure you mention are not going to happen for a number of reasons. The extreme alternatives you mention are not the only options. As for clouds, water vapor is the most prevalent greenhouse gas and could operate in a feed-forward mode (rahter than the feed-back mode of CO2 and methane). The effect of global warming on clouds and precipitation is thebig woild card in the whole complicated scenario. It’s a good bet that precipitation will be redistributed, and essentials like the Indian ocean monsoons may fail. Since availability of water is the next regionally (and globally) developing crisis possibility, that’s where the first impact of climate change may be felt.
I wont even comment on China. Those who believe China is ‘reducing’ thier CO2 cannot be reached with the truth, and are either ignorant or maliciously spreading the lie to advance thier theory. People can make that determination based on the truth…
china is building coal fired power plants one after the other and have retired their bicycles for cars.Did you see beijing during the olympics? Man made global warming is a belief system without conclusive proof. paleo- climatologists have shown massive swings in the earths climate long before man came along .Kyoto was a feel good measure. a 5% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions is nothing.the figure of 29% was thrown around to make it look like a big deal but they played with projected emissions numbers to get there.
Guess the Chinese aren’t ‘men” then? And we should do nothing?
Well, then, I still wonder who this “noone” guy is? – that guy from Herman’s Hermits, maybe (somehow appropriate), or perhaps a neighbor or a buddy of mrwaldo.
well, statistically nobody…sorry about that……
They are currently calling it “Climate Change” now that Global Warming has been proven to be a load of horse puckey. It’ll be something new next year – it’s hard to sustain falsified data year after year.
Document your “falsified data”. Granted, the data for Maine is regional all right and taken by itself is too early to tell if it’s part of apparent AGW. However, it is inline with the shift in growing zones which have gone at least one number further north in the last couple of decades. Check your seed packets.
And Florida’a frost belt has been moving further and further South as verified by central Fla’s citrus growers over the last 30 years.
Totally not true
Increases in extreme weather of all kinds are high probability aspects of AGW, climate change, whatever.
i would call putting the data collection stations that supported the global warming theory on top of asphalt roofs and near heat producing sources such as ac units and ventilation systems falsified data.it was not long after this admission that the term global climate change came along. no one with any sense in buying this drivel anymore.
Agian, none of this is true. Nice add for the coal industry tho.
The rhetoric of global warming believers has sharply changed to “climate change” after thousands of articles in the news revealed that data was a hoax. Personally, I think any so called scientist pushing fake data should be held accountable for these lies. When was the last time you saw a media piece on global warming? Oh right – they completely changed their dialogue since everyone is waking up to the lies.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2217286/Global-warming-stopped-16-years-ago-reveals-Met-Office-report-quietly-released–chart-prove-it.html
The Daily Mail is England’s equilent to the Boston Herald or NY Post. Just not a good source of news but an excellent source or rumor and celebrity news.
Some of the scientists qouted are from Georgia Tech Univ. and other prestigous schools, sound like you just don’t like the message so you’ll attack the messenger
Thousands of news articles? With what degre of accuracy, if any?
It is called Global CLimate Change because the changes encompass more than just temperature. It covers increased droughts, increased rains, increased severe storms and much more.
It was only called Global Warming for the layman, never by the scientists and technicians.
I believe in Climate Change……changing of the climate naturally…
Sure, always happens, but greatly and more rapidly exacerbated by increased pollution of all kinds.
Speaking of horse puckey …
Psst…. don’t tell anyone but over 70% of Americans believe in Global Warming up from 54% just 4 years ago.
Psychologists call this reaction belief perseverance: maintaining your original opinions in the face of overwhelming data that contradicts your beliefs.
Where are the studies that specifically show the Sun’s influence on our Earths atmosphere?……Where are the studies that show the influence of the Earth core on the Earths atmosphere?…you do know that the Earths core is molten nickel right?….spewing its heat into the atmosphere….like a…shoot what do you call those gosh darned things….oh yea….volcanos!
The fraud of man-made global warming will disolve if the facts become known….thats where you step in…..
You just proved the psychologists right with your beliefs.
We are just entering a Solar Maximum cycle that started in 2009, we were in a solar minimum cycle from 1998 to 2009. So the warming we have seen since 1998 occured during a less active, slightly cooler Solar period.
http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2009/29may_noaaprediction/
Those pesky volcaones you like to blame for global warming have been active since the planet was born, during both hot and cold cycles. Most climate changes caused by volcanic activity have resulted in cooler climate cycles (similiar to nuclear winter predictions). As for the amount of CO2 put out by volcanoes compared to mankind is about 1% of the total released by Human activity.
http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2011/08/volcanic-vs-anthropogenic-co2/
http://news.discovery.com/earth/volcanoes-co2-people-emissions-climate-110627.html
And the fact that you believe vocanic eruptions themselves cause the climate temperature to increase just shows how little you know about the atmosphere.
Who said volcanos are the reason for climate change?
Umm, you did.
“…?……Where are the studies that show the influence of the Earth core on the Earths atmosphere?…you do know that the Earths core is molten nickel right?….spewing its heat into the atmosphere….like a…shoot what do you call those gosh darned things….oh yea….volcanos!” mrwaldo2010
Those studies are there and factored in. Do you realize that you are a poster boy for belief perseverance?
Don’t bet the farm on it!!! Look who’s in the White House!!!!!
I wouldn’t bet the farm on it either, especially if you are growing coll weather crops, regardless of who’s in the White House.
Well, the bright side to all this is there’s always a market for watermelon.. regards
So, on what basis did you predict this Maine climate trend 36 years ago? And warmer does not necessarily imply wetter? Do you have solar radiation figures? Maine receives the lowest amount of insolation of any state in the lower 48 (due to latitude and cloud cover). You do know that CO2 primarily absorbs earth reflected radiation which is what provides the warming, don’t you? What reduction in “rain absorbing ground”? Got data for that too?
What ever problems exist in Maine are from central and mid-west factory pollution riding the jet stream to Maine. Something that Maine has no control over, and it won’t matter how much local pollution we cut. It’s like they “flush” and it comes to Maine.
So, it really made sense to rip out all the hydro dams which produced clean, never ending power with no pollution so an Indian could catch a salmon above the dam.
Umm… not sure where you are getting your mis-information (I can guess tho) but both the average temperature and ocean levels are continuing to rise.
2012 will be the warmest year on record and we have seen 340 straight months of above average temperatures (that’s over 28 years for the math impaired)
and where are you getting this info? ocean levels plateaued ? C0 2 reduced?
Still too early to tell. Let’s see what this winter brings.
Let’s see what the next few years bring, if it isn’t too late.
“Global Warming”. “Global Cooling” and an impending ice age in the 1970’s. “Climate Change”. The rhetoric never ends. “Environmental scientists” try too hard to skew data to fit their biased and warped political agendas. The earth can sustain itself quite well in spite of mankind – it was created by God – not some union worker in Detroit, Michigan. People really think automobile CO2 emissions are the doom of mankind…go back to the Al Gore network. The planet doesn’t have a fever – just those who think the planet is a living entity that somehow needs “our” help. Pretty vain and pompous of people to think they can miraculously save the earth or destroy it.
Huh? It’s the baseless denialists that are making it a political football. The earth (and the universe) may have been created by God but we’re doing a perfectly lousy job in our stewardship of it (the proper translation, not “dominion”). And what has a Detroit unionworker got to do with this discussion?
The implication that the earth is fragile and the haughty idea that your CO2 emissions are killing it. Environmentalism is a religion – it is a radical ideology that doesn’t sustain itself within any form of reality or real science. The nutty idea that the earth is about to break or crack has parallels with some poorly man made junk. I’m pretty sure God has a better idea with what He is doing then any of us down here. Mankind has an ego – that’s about it.
The Earth is not fragile but human existance on it is. The will continue to be life on this planet but it will most likely be insects not us if we continue with our current path.
The earth is pretty darned durable all right and one doesn’t have to invoke Biblical creation know that. However, climate change predictors are not saying anything about “killing the earth” (that’s a prime example of your unknowing or blindered extremism), but time are achangin’. All sorts of data on climate zones creeping nearer the poles, a lost more rapidly than in geologic times past.
Volcanoes, Earthquakes, Avalanches, Floods, Cyclones, Landslides, Mudslides, Deadly life forms, Tsunamis, Droughts, Lighting, Wildfires, Tornadoes, Hail, Uninhabitable land, Limnic eruptions, and all this on a planet that is 70% water.
Your god did a horrible job creating this planet.
Move to another.
How about we protect the one we’re on instead of trying our hardest to destroy it for profit?
LOL!!
After you.
I wish I could, I really do.
This is a test and only a test :-/
When you write “created by God”, you have invalidated any points that you might make regarding this subject. This is an article about science, not the fantasies that you subscribe to.
whether or not our polluting is going to destroy mankind, i suspect god’s going to be upset you messed up his house and expect him to clean it up.
All should remember that the correct translation of the commission to mankind in Genesis, in today’s English, is more like “stewardship”, not dominion (which in the pre-Jacobean language of the KJV meant more like stewardship).
Is Maine experiencing more ‘extreme’ precipitation? If we are, remember it is the Republicans fault.
George Bush, I believe.
Actually, Maine’s climate is Lepage’s fault (with assistance from his daughter).
They are the one’s denying that the climate change is real, so you would be correct.
Cue the global warming fanatics who have just returned from praying at the Algorian church.
These environmental whackos will just keep plugging away looking for any reason to further their agenda. There is no global warming. There are plenty of dollars out there for research and thats what these people want. If they don’t keep up the dialogue then the dollars dry up. The bloated buffoon Al Gore has made millions from this foolishness.
Of course the earth is warming. Haven’t you heard of the Ice Age (not the animated movie)? The entire earth isn’t covered in ice anymore…therefore the globe has warmed. As for the Algorians, they need to advance their agenda since they’ve nothing else to talk about. Repeat something often enough it becomes truth, doesn’t it? “Somebody needs to do something about it.”
Hey, little buddy! The Minnow is patched up and ready for you to sail away on a three hour tour of your ignorance and delusions. Sorry to say that neither Ginger nor Mary-Ann will be aboard but the Howells are looking forward to getting to know you. They are “your kind of people”. Bon Voyage!!
Once again the Left Liberal Algorians who can only attack and insult when someone disagrees with them. Very Sad Indeed.
Speaking of attempted attacks and insults. You sound like a Denialin (and I don’t mean a resident of northeast Africa).
So
supply the scientific studies that support your rhetoric
Cue another avalanche of ignorance and limp zingers from one of the BDN’s most pathetic trolls-Yowsa the Hut.
Do you just sit by the computer waiting for new stories to load so you can be the first person to poison the well with your standard right wing boilerplate nonsense?
If 95% of doctors thought that something caused cancer, we would probably check it out and not assume that 95% of doctors were just on a money grab. 95% of climate scientists believe in man caused global warming.
These sientists are PAID in grants. If they don’t come to that conclusion there will be NO MORE grant monies for them to study the issue. It’s all a big lie !!!!
Hey, little buddy! Better man the pumps, you’re taking on water again!
Nope.
So your the guy whose going to do his own denistry work because the dentist said you have cavities? He’s going to get paid for filling all that rot so you’s better not trust him.
U.S. STUDY FINDS A MINORITY OF CLIMATE DENIERSBy the time the Yale and George Mason survey was conducted from August 31 through September 12 of this year, “… the number of Americans who say global warming is not happening has declined nearly by half, from 20 percent in January 2010 to 12 percent today,” the survey reports.[…].That study’s results, however, are instructive. It surveyed publication and citation data of 1,372 climate researchers, and determined that “97–98% of the climate researchers most actively publishing in the field support the tenets of ACC [anthropogenic climate change] outlined by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change…”
It was a freak storm. But yes, let’s all say that Maine is experience more extreme weather so we can all go worship at the altar of global warming….
As I’ve indicated elsewhere, the increase in weather extremes isn’t necessarily caused by climate change, but it is an indication of what may well happen in the future if pollution trends continue.
Cut the “worship” crap. This is not a religious issue except, apparently, for some denialists. Some conservatives do make it a religious issue (e.g., the durability of a God created earth) but several conservative Christians are advocating acknowledging AGW.
crapola….
They’re comparing an unusual year (2012) to the last 70+. Every now and again, you’re going to see a spike. If 2013 and 2014 are just like 2012, then maybe I’ll give what they’re saying some credence. I’m sure that, in that same span, there is a year that is much colder than all the rest as well.
Read the data. It’s been getting warmer than past decade at least. The trend is up. Fast.
When I read the headline I remembered that last night I dreamed I was wading in my father’s flooded backyard after the heaviest rainfall ever. I was even throwing things at the alligators that had appeared in the waters of St. George, Maine.
But anyone who wants to know more than their neighbors about the reality of climate change would do well to read Curt Stager’s book, Deep Future.
http://www.curtstager.com/
To all the liberal enviro nuts..wanna reduceco2…hold your breathe for an hour a day…consecutively !!
After you.
Oh my god! We are all going to die! Global Warming is here. Repent, Repent, the end is nigh!
As before, cut the religious crap. Poor attempt at humor.
We read below that, “The earth can sustain itself quite well in spite of mankind – it was created by God.”
We also read that “More Than 9 in 10 Americans Continue to Believe in God Professed belief is lower among younger Americans, Easterners, and liberals”
On the other hand, with 10 out of 10 believing in God isn’t the Taliban putting us to shame? With a bit of dedicated proselytizing, couldn’t we garner that handful of lost liberals and younger Americans and be right up there with them?
The humble Farmer
Al Gore just announced that Maine’s extreme weather happenings are all due to the altitude….oh, sorry wrong story…..
Humorous, not.
Agreed. The insects are among the threats to man as we will be overwhelmed by the disease they spread.
When Portland is forced to abandon Commercial St. because it’s under water, then some here will need to eat their hats and feel like fools.
Someday Hammond st might be beachfront property.
ROFLMAO…Fools on fools erands…Thankfully you lefties here are but an ever shrinking minority…President Romney will have us energy independent despite you…Maine may be left in the DARK ages (perhaps literally) but the rest of the country will move on from this nonsense…90 BILLION from Obuma to his cronies in the so called green energy industry have destroyed your dreams as one by one they pocket the billions and close up shop after they funnel some back to Obuma for his re-election…He has set your movement back DECADES even IF it were true…Send him (Obuma) a thank you card…I did…LOL…
It’s all so simple, isn’t it? NOT. And who (except you and other extremists) said that acknowledging AGW is strictly “leftist”? You’re the ones politicising it.
More Al Gore Chicken Little. He’s making a fortune off this. Of course he invented the internet so he should know
Gore is not the only advocate of AGW. He didn’t collect any data. And don’t perpetuate the urban myth of the Internet. Got anything valid for your blindered denialism?
I’ve never considered myself an “environmental wacko”, BUT I have noticed some changes.
In 1981 the Temperature in down east Maine was -40. I remember similar temperatures when I was younger. I have not seen the tempatures below -15 for many years.
Last year it was early November before I cut my grass for the last time that year. It is now late
October and my grass needs cutting.
When I was young the Black Berries had all gone by early September. For the last few years I have been picking blackberries in October.
When I was young all the black flies had gone by mid July, now they stay all summer and into the fall.
Humming birds used to go south in late August, now they stay till early October.
The killing frost at the end of summer used to come the last week of August or the first week in
September (depending on the clouds) now I still have flowers outside my house in October, and last year they stayed till the first week of December.
I know this is not scientific, not is the comparing of temperatures my grandfather recorded with
those of today, but to deny that anything has changed flies in the face of reality.
It’s getting warmer down here.
Whether or not you believe in global warming as being man made or not, I
find if incredibly hard to believe that anyone can deny the science
(and just the naked eye test) that the global climate is changing. Much
more severe and frequent storms and droughts, rising water levels and shrinking ice caps.
Maybe, just maybe, the majority of scientists are right and that all of this is even just slightly caused by man. Or if you even don’t believe it, there is absolutely no denying that fossil fuels will not be here forever, is finding other energy sources that are renewable, give us as a country more independence and as a bonus won’t possibly destroy habitats for millions of species (I still can not believe that a presidential candidate stood in front of the American people promoting drilling as the Gulf of Mexico is still recovering from the BP oil spill 2 years ago).
Whatever happened to leaving the Earth, the same, if not better, for future generations? When did we become so selfish?
Drilling did commence with much better regs, the ones that Halliburton and BP should have been using. The Rs/Tpers don’t acknowledge that of course.
I saw logging trucks on the Golden Road loaded up with palm trees.
LOL
Would people rather have a drought?
Transient shower day.
The globe has not been warming in 16 years, yet these people will never stop.
Note to moonbats – there is a reason you have not heard Obama mention global warming this campaign.
