OLD TOWN – Catherine E. Adams, 90, died Oct. 21, 2012, at a Howland health care facility. She was born Oct. 3, 1922, in Old Town, daughter of Floyd and Nellie (Bloomburg) Bradford.
Catherine graduated from Old Town High School, class of 1939 and married Seth Adams, in 1942. While Seth served in the military during World War II, Catherine worked in local mills. Upon Seth’s return, they settled down and raised three sons, Seth Jr., David and Nathan. In the 1960s, Catherine returned to work and was employed at the University of Maine, food service, until her retirement in 1984. Catherine and Seth enjoyed their summers and winters at their camp at Pushaw Pond, sharing this time with their children, grandchildren; and special friends, Jan and Bob and their families.
She is survived by her three sons and their families, Seth Adams Jr. and wife, Beverly, of Orrington, David Adams and wife, Rosemary, of Barrington, R.I., and Nathan Adams of North Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Vickie Merchant and husband, Alan, of Levant, Roger Adams and wife, Kathy, of Hermon, Wayne Adams and wife, Traci, of Orrington, Jessica Sulzen of Olathe, Kan., and Julie Campanini of Barrington, R.I.; grandson-in-law, William Wheeler of Orrington; great-grandchildren, Ben, Eric, Seth and Shelby Wheeler, Mike and Matt Merchant, Meghan Kidd and husband, Charles, Miles and Delaney Adams, Ainsley Sulzen, Bella and Ian Campanini; three nieces and one nephew. She was predeceased by her husband, Seth, Aug. 27, 2010; granddaughter, Deborah Wheeler, Aug. 4, 2010; brother, Lesley Bradford; and sister, Alice Bradford. The family wishes to extend a sincere heartfelt thank you to all the doctors, nurses and staff at Cummings Health Care for their incredible and compassionate care given to our mother and grandmother, Catherine.
