BANGOR, Maine — A Thanksgiving Day altercation between a couple ended with a Bangor woman under arrest, police said.

Treena Flora, 42, is facing a charge of domestic violence assault, a Class D misdemeanor, according to Bangor police Lt. Steve Hunt.

Officers responded to a Hammond Street residence to deal with the altercation just after 8 p.m., Hunt said Friday morning. Flora and the man had a physical confrontation, the lieutenant said, but no medical attention was required for either of them.

Flora was arrested and taken to the Penobscot County Jail, where she remained Friday morning, Hunt said.

  1. Is it just me, or are there just as many women ending up in jail for domestic violence as men these days? This is truly a sad comment on where our society is heading.

    1. Domestic Violence is just wrong no matter what the gender of the perptrator or victim is. I’m glad they report it. Hopefully, society as a whole will come to recognize just how prominent Domestic Violence against men truly is. Hopefully that acknowledgement will be followed by more resources being made available for male victims..

  2. Probably happens a lot more than we hear about — pretty tough for any guy who has a pair swinging to walk in the Cop Shop with a black eye and busted lip to turn in the old lady. LOL Gotta say I’ve met a few truly tough gals in my time, but had enough sense not to marry any of them — something about the psycho gleam came in their eyes when somebody, anybody said things like “No.”

  3. While on the topic of Domestic Violence, I absolutely hate Gov, Lepage’s DV commercial. In my opinion, the right thing to do if you witness a DV situation is to call the police. Getting physically involved could escalate the situation and put others at risk. If you see a woman OR a man(yes, a man) being abused – call the police!
