DOVER-FOXCROFT – Barbara C. Zimmerman, 87, died Dec. 11, 2012, at Mayo Regional Hospital, Dover-Foxcroft. She was born April 25, 1925, in Ellsworth, the daughter of Ralph and Ethel (Soper) Atkinson. On Sept. 4, 1948, she married William Zimmerman.
Barbara is survived by five children, Ralph and his wife, Joyce, of Guilford, Lucy Grant of Dover-Foxcroft, Billy and his girlfriend, Robin, of Dover-Foxcroft, Steve of Guilford, and Paul and his fiancee, Martha, of Guilford. She also leaves 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, William; a son, James; her mother, father, and stepmother, Lucy Atkinson; and her brother and his wife, Paul and Dorothy Atkinson. Barbara’s family would like to thank everyone from Hospice and at Mayo Regional Hospital for all the kindness and help they gave Barbara.
Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life gathering 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at Gerrish-Warren Community Center, Thayer Parkway, Dover-Foxcroft. A private graveside memorial service will be held at the family lot in Dover Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to HAD No. 4 Ladies Auxiliary, Mayo Regional Hospital, 897 West Main St., Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426.
