ORLAND – Linda May Prada, 58, died Dec. 7, 2012, at Brewer Rehabilitation after a long battle with emphysema. She was born Oct. 9, 1954, on an American Air Force base in Germany, to William B. and Betsey A. (Pond) Tinney.
After graduating from Barnstable High School in Massachusetts, she married her high school sweetheart, Allan Prada, before moving with the rest of her family to Orland. She successfully ran her parents’ restaurant, Duffy’s, East Orland, until the early 1990s, during which time she completed a degree in social services while also raising her two sons. She went on to create a treatment plan for the state of Maine to assist mentally disadvantaged people with more successful integration into society. She was a remarkably strong and determined woman, who regularly placed the welfare of others ahead of her own, whether they were family or the patients that she met later in her career. She always maintained a positive outlook in the face of adversity, not letting most people see how sick she really was.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Allan; sons, Jeremy and Jason Prada; daughters-in-law, Cleo Luk and Kate Tardiff; father, William Tinney; brother, Robbie Tinney; sister, Marte Ranzoni; cousin, Stephanie Buck Tevlin; niece, April Joy; and nephew, Gavin Worcester.
There will be no service held. Anyone wishing to donate may make gifts in Linda’s name to St. Joseph Hospital, care of St. Joseph Healthcare, Development Office, P.O. Box 1638, Bangor, ME 04402.
