ORONO, Maine — A local man was arrested Tuesday evening after violating a protection order by being on his ex-wife’s property, police said.

A resident of the Downeast Terrace had witnessed an argument between Randolph Gamache, 46, of Orono and the woman around 9 p.m., according to Orono police Capt. Josh Ewing.

The protection order against Gamache prohibits him from being on the woman’s property, according to Ewing. An issue over the pair’s children and a man the woman was with allegedly spurred the argument.

The neighbor saw the pair arguing outside and called police, but Gamache was gone when officers arrived, Ewing said.

While police were speaking with the woman, Gamache returned and was placed under arrest. He was charged with violation of a protection order and brought to the Penobscot County Jail.

  1. It is our hope that the Governor, Attorney General, District Attorneys and Judges in Maine can wake up during the next 60 days and implement jail without bail in all cases of domestic violence with greater than a 5% chance of homicide resulting upon any release of the charged party. This fool was realeased from jail in Colorado and then killed 3 people (sound like Dexter on June 13, 2011?) within 6 hours…including the woman who caused his arrest on DV charges. Except for those who support Domestic Violence Homicide, bail and rules of court are what directly caused these deaths. We all keep learning the same exact lessons over and over and over again: http://ww2.cox.com/myconnection/arizona/today/news/national/article.cox?articleId=DA38V6F01&moduleType=apNews

  2. Randy was overheard commenting: “I don’t understand these strange things she yells at me! What do ‘Get the hell out of here!’ and ‘Court order’ mean anyhow?” I recall when MA initiated a two week no-bail policy on domestic complaints, sure gave a lot of folks a well-needed cooling off period.

  3. This is not the first time he was arrested for violating it. He was out on bail when he did this again from the first time. By the way how do you get bailed out in less then 24 hours for the second time? The court systems need to take these things more serious and not allow bail to be posted.

    1. Hmm hes my dad he did nothing wrong but care for his kids trust me its been 20 years an he is a good dad.still she always trys to put him in jail i know all about it

  4. Any court order is useless unless the judge is inclined to enforce it. We don’t have that here in Maine.
