HERMON, Maine — A Hermon man suffered severe injuries after he was ejected from his truck that flipped end-over-end Saturday night.

The man, in his mid-50s, was traveling on the Fuller Road when he missed a turn, Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office Deputy David Quinn said Sunday night.

“He missed a corner, drove through a field, drove through a ditch, snapped the guidewire off a pole and then hit a berm,” said Quinn. “After he hit that, his truck flipped end-over-end two or three times.”

The man suffered a “severe head injury with several broken bones,” said Quinn.

Quinn said he could not release the man’s name because he had not yet been able to speak to the victim’s family.

The Hermon man’s Ford F-350 pickup truck was totaled, he said. The driver was the only occupant.

The victim was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

“We haven’t determined if speed, alcohol or road conditions were a factor,” said Quinn. “It’s still under investigation.”

  1. I know this man and its sad to see the way some have responded. He would the shirt off his back to help anyone in need, is dependable and loving by nature. He and his family have been family friends my whole life and my prayers and thoughs are with him and his family in this time of need.

    1. People are ignorant. Sorry about your friend. I hope he does ok. My prayers are with him and his family.

    2. Well said. He is one of those people who would do anything for anyone. These commenters should have a little compassion and respect for what he and his family and MANY friends are going through right now. EVERYONE makes mistakes. Lets show a little love this holiday and pray for his recovery.

    3. Thank you. Everyone deserves a chance and with this happening just before the holiday I am sure everyone is devistated and could use all the compassion possible right now.

  2. What is empathy?

After you’ve used up most of your supply for your friend who drove his snowmobile on thin ice and your neighbor who rammed a tree with his ATV, how much can you possibly have left for a wonderful cousin who is too smart to use a seat belt?

  3. I dont understand why we feel sorry for this guy? He was speeding and not wearing his seat belt. All choices made by him.if he wants to crash and set a distance record through the windshield then more power to him

  4. People still want to blame the victim here, even though he was the ONLY victim in this accident.
There are too many chicken littles in this world! Accidents happen.
(but of course not to those who are perfect)

    1. He wouldn’t be a victim if he had just buckled up.

Of course the CRASH was an accident, nobody has stated otherwise. What happened to the drive could have easily been prevented. Nobody is “blaming” anyone…such a ‘victim’ society nowadays.
