SACO, Maine — Police have charged two people in connection with a fatal crash that left a Saco man dead over the summer.

Michael Herlihy, 20, of Saco is facing a charge of allowing a minor to possess or consume liquor while Kathleen Ricker, 22, also of Saco, is accused of furnishing a liquor to a minor in the wake of a June 3 crash that killed Jacob Marcotte, 19, Saco Deputy Chief Jeff Holland said.

On the night of the crash, Marcotte had attended a graduation party at a Brenda Circle residence, at which numerous underage attendees were drinking, according to Holland.

An investigation determined that Ricker had allegedly purchased the alcohol at a local Cumberland Farms store while Herlihy allegedly distributed the alcohol to Marcotte at the party, Holland said.

Marcotte’s blood-alcohol level was well above the legal limit of .08 at the time of the crash, which occurred at the intersection of Flag Pond and Jenkins Roads.

Herlihy and Ricker are scheduled to appear in York County Superior Court on Feb. 1.
