OWLS HEAD – Ronda Beth Monroe passed away Jan. 7, 2013, at McCall Hospice House, Simpsonville, S.C. She was born July 26, 1948, in Lincoln, daughter of Robert and Helen (Bates) Monroe.
She was a 1966 graduate of Piscataquis Community High School, Guilford, attended University of Maine Orono, and Monterey Peninsula College, Monterey, Calif. She worked as executive assistant and office manager in High Point, N.C., and Salem, Va., and completed her working career in Maine as bookkeeper and in banking. At the time of her illness she was employed by The First Bank, Camden. Ronda was an avid reader and enjoyed music of most genre. She closely followed politics and sports of all kinds. She liked to travel and for many years lived in Europe. In 1991 she became a member of International Chili Society and Chili Appreciation Society International, and competed throughout the U.S. in state sponsored championship chili cooking contests. She won in several states and placed in many more. One of the highlights of her life was attending the inaugural ball in Washington, D.C., of President Clinton as a guest of the Texas delegation. She was a member of United Methodist Church, Guilford, a past member of Furniture Capital Chapter, American Business Women’s Association, where she served as treasurer, and was a community volunteer for public broadcasting and special events.
She is survived by her parents of Lincoln; children, Pierre Goulette and wife, Jill, of Taylors, S.C., and Angelique Mathers and husband, Mark, of Wilmington, N.C.; grandchildren, Randy Nance, Sarah Goulette, Casey, Micayla and James Mathers; sister, Brenda Burgess and husband, Jeff, of Belfast; nephews, Jason and Eric Burgess; uncles, Ken Monroe and Millard Haynes; aunt, Bernice Monroe; many cousins; and two very special friends since childhood, Linda Vose of Whiting and Kathy Gallagher of Conway, N.H. Ronda was loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
At her request, there will be no public service. Her life will be celebrated by family and friends at a later date. Contributions in her memory may be made to McCall Hospice House, 1836 West Georgia Road,
