SOUTHWEST HARBOR – Lucie D. Phippen, 92, died Feb. 15, 2013, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Ellsworth. She was born Oct. 8, 1920, in Southwest Harbor, the daughter of Arthur and Carrie (Greenlaw) Robinson.
Lucie graduated from Pemetic High School in 1941. On Nov. 21, 1946, Lucie married Shirley Phippen. They were married for 53 years before his death in 1999. Lucie was employed during the summer by Mary Usher for 44 years. Lucie enjoyed spending time with her family, knitting, was a reader, and liked to keep up on current events. She enjoyed spending time with her friends at Brandon & Laura’s Café.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Goodwin and husband, John Jr.; grandchildren, Jaylene Sanborn and husband, Ronald, and Korey Goodwin; and great-grandchildren, Melody and Colton Sanborn and Ali Goodwin. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Shirley; brothers, Harris, Richard and Paul; and sisters, Ruth and Doris.
A celebration of Lucie’s life will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at Brandon & Laura’s Café, Southwest Harbor.
