SPRINGVALE – Sheryl (Young) Russell, 55, died Sunday, March 3, 2013, at H.D. Goodall Hospital, Sanford, after battling cancer for the past year. Sheryl was born Aug. 13, 1957, in Bangor, to Paul and Gloria (St. Peter) Young.
She grew up in Bangor and attended local schools, graduating from Bangor High School in 1975. In 1996, she married Stephen Russell and they relocated to Springvale in 1998. For most of her life Sheryl worked as a purchasing agent in the electrical wholesale industry. She had been most recently employed by Rockingham Electric Supply, Newington, N.H. Sheryl was not a woman who made material things a priority. She always found more pleasure in the simple things in life. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, working around her house and floating in her pool with her husband and her hound. She loved animals and was particularly fond of her dog, Cassidy. She was a devoted wife and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Sheryl knew that the path to heaven was through Jesus Christ and she faced her death with dignity and strength. She will be remembered as a kind and loving woman, and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Sheryl was predeceased by her parents and grandparents. Surviving are her husband, Stephen Russell of Springvale; stepdaughter, Kara Russell of Kenduskeag; brother, Michael Young and wife, Heather, of Hermon; father-in-law and mother-in-law, James “Bill” and Ann Russell of Millinocket; brother-in-law, Jay Russell and wife, Tammy, of Millinocket; one niece, two nephews and one great-nephew.
