PRESQUE ISLE – Myrtle Gertrude Libby, 87, passed away March 5, 2013, in Presque Isle. She was born on Nov. 1, 1925, in Springfield, New Brunswick, the daughter of Maurice and Gladys (Goodine) McGrath.
Myrtle worked for F.W. Woolworth Department store in the 1940s, worked as a certified nurse’s aide at Presque Isle Nursing Home for 15 years and then volunteered at both the gift shop at The Aroostook Medical Center, R.S.V.P. and St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Parish of the Precious Blood for many years.
Myrtle is survived by two sons, Floyd Libby and his wife, Linda, of Dedham and Carroll Libby and his wife, Dolly, of Westfield. She also leaves behind one brother, Earl McGrath and his wife, Wilma, of Mapleton; two grandchildren, Toni Weaver and her husband, Jared, of Winterport and Heidi Hewitt and her husband, Chad, of Calais; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Arnold Libby; three brothers, Murray, James and Ralph McGrath; and two sisters, Elva Peden and Lena DeNofrio.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at St. Marys Catholic Church, Parish of the Precious Blood with the Rev. Raymond Morency officiating.
