PORTLAND and BREWER – Jean C. Worsham, 81, formerly of Brewer, passed away March 15, 2013, at Gossnell Memorial Hospice House, Scarborough. Jean was born Sept. 25, 1931, in Bangor, the daughter of Francis and Hilma (Bille) Welch.
She attended schools in Bangor and was a graduate of Bangor High School. As the wife of a military officer she resided in Maine, Wyoming, Japan and Nebraska. She and her family returned to Maine upon her husband’s retirement and settled in Brewer. After raising her children, Jean worked the majority of her career in the field of social services and advocacy for the elderly at the Eastern Area Agency on Aging, Training and Development Corp., and then owned and managed Senior Options, an adult day care center in Brewer. Jean enjoyed reading, bridge, needlepoint, cooking, painting, entertaining and going to the Bangor Symphony Orchestra.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Worsham. She is survived by daughter, Robin Laverdiere; daughter, Kathie Ladd; son, Tim King and his wife, Deborah; daughter, Jill Worsham; daughter, Melissa Rodrigue and her husband, David; her beloved grandchildren, Mathew Ladd, Elizabeth Ladd, Larry Bull, Nancy King, Jennifer King, Caitlin Rodrigue and Julie St. Pierre; and great-grandchildren, Trevor Bull, Chanz Bull, Nathen King and Tessa Lemoine. Jean’s family thanks the wonderful staff at Courtland Rehabilitation & Living Center for the many years of loving care and Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for the wonderful care they provided.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, March 18. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor, at a later date.
