DEDHAM – Susan Elizabeth Kuehnert Knowlton died March 13, 2013, surrounded by her family at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston. She was the beloved wife of Dennis Allen Knowlton and loving mother of Corey Ryan Pattison. Susan was born Aug. 29, 1950, in St. Louis. She was raised in Webster Groves, Mo., the daughter of Theodore and Eunice Kuehnert.
She enjoyed a happy childhood growing up with her sister, Judy and brothers, Paul, David and Steve. She graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in sociology and worked in the St. Louis area for many years in the field of geriatrics. In 1986 she attained a Master of Social Work degree from Washington University and in 1987 she moved to Maine. She worked for many years as a social worker at Eastern Maine Medical Center, United Cerebral Palsy of Maine, Casey Family Services and Community Health & Counseling Services Hospice. Susan was committed to providing support and understanding to the many children and families she served. She was loved by her family and friends, and respected by those in her professional life.
In addition to her husband and son, Susan is survived by her sister, Judith Balluff and husband, Mike, of Owensville, Mo.; brothers, Paul Kuehnert and wife, Judith, of Hopewell, N.J., David Kuehnert and wife, Natalie, of New London, Conn., and Steve Kuehnert and wife, Pam, of Springfield, Mo.; several nieces and nephews.
