SKOWHEGAN, Maine — A truck driver was charged with improper passing after a collision on Route 2 Thursday afternoon, police said Monday.
Tim Richards, 55, of Exeter was heading east on Route 2 when he encountered a line of stopped traffic, Skowhegan Deputy Chief Dan Summers said.
When Richards attempted to pass the stopped traffic, he broadsided a westbound car operated by 53-year-old Debra Blanchette of Canaan, the deputy chief said.
The two vehicles went off the westbound side of the highway and into a snowbank, according to Summers. Blanchette attempted to avoid Richards’ 18-wheeler before the vehicles collided.
Both vehicles were heavily damaged but not totaled while Blanchette was treated at the scene for minor injuries, Summers said. Richards was not injured, but he was summoned for improper passing.
