PENOBSCOT – Fulton L. Leach, 85, passed away April 7, 2013, at a Blue Hill hospital. Born March 26, 1928, in Castine, he was the son of Frank and Verna (Hutchins) Leach.
Fulton served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for and retired from the paper mill in Bucksport after 38 years of service. He was a coach for the Little League baseball team for nine years and also adult men’s softball team. Fulton was assistant Cub Master and member of Boy Scouts Pack No. 83; he served on the training staff of Adult Leaders for Scouting. Fulton was instrumental at building the playground at Penobscot Elementary School. He was a life member of Rising Star Masonic Lodge and member of Penobscot United Methodist Church.
Fulton is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jane (Pert) Leach; two children, Donald Leach of Penobscot and Linda Thurlow and husband, Lester, of Penobscot; two grandchildren, D.J. Leach and wife, Lorelei, and William Leach; three great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Edwin Pert and his significant other, Priscilla Allen; and special friends, Robert and Ruth Anne Gott and family. Fulton was predeceased by his parents. The family extends a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Penobscot Nursing Home and Blue Hill Memorial Hospital for the loving, compassionate care of Fulton.
