HOLDEN and BROOKSVILLE – On the evening of April 11, 2013, Glendon passed on at home, surrounded by love, with his wife by his side. He was born Nov. 12, 1919, in Etna, the second son of Harry and June (Tribou) Harding.
Glendon graduated from Brewer High School and attended Bangor School of Commerce. He worked in the U.S. Postal Service most of his life, and retired in the early 70s as Post Master in Holden. Glendon was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S Navy. For several years, he and his first wife, Helen, lived in the Brooksville-Cape Rosier area and enjoyed the friendships of the people there. In the 90s, and until his death, he and his second wife, Marilee, enjoyed their home in Holden and the beauty of nature that surrounded them.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Harold W. Harding. Glendon is survived by wife, Marilee of Holden; one cousin, Barbara Blanchard of Bradford; and by his very dear friend, Stanley Johnson of Bucksport. I wish to thank the following, my wonderful team of caregivers from New Hope Hospice, Eddington and Ila Mae, of Healing Spirit Healthcare, Old Town, truly very special people. Also, Maine Veterans Home, Bangor, for their excellent care.
A graveside service will be held noon Tuesday, May 14, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. Relatives and friends are invited to meet 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, at Superintendents Lodge, State Street Entrance, Bangor. Service of the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith. “Gone from my sight, but not from my heart.”
