BRUNSWICK – Robert W. Vreeland, 71, died May 4, 2013, from kidney cancer at Veterans Affairs Medical Center – Togus.
He graduated from John Bapst High School, Bangor, in 1959, and attended Boston College, Chestnut Hill, Mass. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1962 and served as an electronics technician aboard the nuclear submarines, USS George C. Marshall and USS Ethan Allen. After his tour with the navy, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service and retired in 2002.
He is survived by his son, Thomas Vreeland of Melrose, Mass.; former wife, Lydia Vreeland of Melrose, Mass.; brother, Roy Vreeland of Brunswick; and sister, Adelle Vreeland of Lakeside, Ariz.
He will be interred with a private family ceremony at Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.
