CAPE CORAL, Fla., and ORRINGTON – Harold, 90, went to be with the Lord May 4, 2013, after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 20, 1923, in Nahant, Mass., son of the late Harold C. and Sadie G. (French) Lobley of Orrington.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Thelma Joyce of Cape Coral, Fla.; son, John and wife, Cynthia Lobley, of Riverview, Fla.; daughter, Judith and husband, Roderick White, of Old Lyme, Conn., three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Norman and wife, Joyce, of South Portland, Robert and wife, Julia, of Orrington, Earl and wife, Wendy, of Granite Bay, Calif.; sister-in-law, Margaret Lobley of Bangor; and two sisters, Alfreda and husband, Paul Webster, of Bangor, and Linda and husband, William St. Louis, of Ocala, Fla. He was predeceased by a brother, Perley Lobley of Bangor; two sisters, Gloria York of Orrington and Geraldine Grindle of Ellsworth.
Harold “Jake” was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. Jake was a skilled carpenter, working from the basic construction of building homes to a detailed cabinet maker. He spent many summers working at the renowned Robinhood Camp for Boys, Sedgwick. During the second phase of his career, while working for The Flag Center, Cambridge, Mass., he was selected for the honor of erecting the American flag within John F. Kennedy Library, Boston.
Services will be held at Coral Ridge Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1630 SW Pine Island Road, Cape Coral, Fla.
