HOLLYWOOD, FLA. – Ralph Linwood Stormann, 82, passed away peacefully May 13, 2013, at home. Ralph was born Jan. 30, 1931, in Stillwater, son of Linwood “Red” and Madeline Stormann.
He graduated from Old Town High School and continued his education with a four-year degree in electrical engineering from the University of Maine, Orono. Ralph then enlisted in the U.S. Army for two years and upon his return, he earned his master’s degree in engineering at UMO. It was at this time that Ralph decided to leave Maine and begin his career in Florida. He soon found employment with SunAir Electronics, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and remained with them for 44 years before retiring. Ralph enjoyed his retirement, doing all the things he loved, traveling – especially his annual trip to Maine to visit with his family, gardening, projects around his home and going out to eat. He was also extremely gifted artistically and created many sculptures, paintings and pieces of art. Ralph will be deeply missed by his friends and family, especially for his quick wit and sense of humor, and his love of life and adventure.
Ralph is survived by his life partner and best friend of more than 50 years, William “Andy” Anderson of Hollywood, Fla.; nieces, Nancy Michaud and Karen Kriger, both of Norway, Maine; nephews, John Littlefield of Dayton and Stuart Littlefield of Oxford; and special cousin, Mary Ellen O’Connor of Sebring, Fla. He was predeceased by his parents, Red and Madeline Stormann; and “favorite” sister, Joanne Littlefield.
Graveside services will be held at a later date in Paris, Maine. Arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 45 Main St., South Paris. Online condolences may be shared with his family at www.chandlerfunerals.com.
